With summer approaching, I’m all about the al fresca dining! My friends and I always enjoy getting together and sharing a meal outside on the balcony. We always have difference themes, but my personal favorite is hosting a fiesta! I just love cooking Mexican cuisine, and giving it a little kick with a spicy hot sauce. Recently I’ve discovered ¡Sabor! by Texas Pete®. It has quickly become my “go-to” hot sauce since it offers such a bold, yet balanced combination of spices, sea salt, sautéed garlic and aged peppers. It truly is ideal for any meal or cuisine really.

Spring is in full effect now and for me that means one thing… baseball season has started! Now I love spending my days at the ballpark, watching my favorite sport, and enjoying the stadium’s signature ‘burger and fries‘. Orioles Park at Camden Yards tops their burgers with Maryland lump crab meat. The Rangers’ Ballpark at Arlington offers the famous Beltre Buster Burger. The Pirates’ PNC Park has the Brunch Burger (Luther Burger). Burgers and baseball go hand in hand. Lately though I’ve been enjoying my game-watching from home and creating my own twist on ‘Burger & Fries‘ by using products from Alexia Foods found at Walmart. I wanted to create something a little more upscale, yet still reminded me of spring time at the ballpark.
Alexia Foods offers an amazing selection of gourmet frozen foods to bring your meals to the next level such as Rosemary and Sea Salt Fries, Sweet Potato Fries with Sea Salt, Spicy Sweet Potato Fries, or Crispy Onion Rings. Using all natural ingredients, many of their products are Non-GMO certified. Several products are also Kosher, gluten-free, and certified organic.

Celebrate National Piña Colada Day ~ July 10th!
Today, July 10th, is National Piña Colada Day!
Don’t worry, if you can’t make it to the beach, you can still indulge in this refreshing tropical cocktail. A piña colada is the perfect way to relax and enjoy a little bit of summer where you are sitting on a white sand by the ocean, or stuck up in a cold snowy mountain retreat. The taste just screams “Relax! It’s Summertime!”
So I don’t sound like a lush, I’m going to make this post educational. History Lesson: Piña coladas originated in San Juan, Puerto Rico! The name means “strained pineapple” in Spanish.
What National Piña Colada Day post would be complete without a recipe?
Ingredients
- 1 cup pineapple chunks (freshly cut!)
- desired amout of light (clear) rum
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk or cream
- 1/4 cup ice cubes
- 1 banana (optional)
- Pineapple wedges/cherries/oranges, for garnish
Simply toss the pineapple chunks, coconut milk or cream, rum, ice, and if desired, a banana, into a blender. Puree until smooth. Pour and serve! You can add the other fruits as garnishes. I like to add an orange slice on the side and a cherry on top of the drink. Enjoy!
What is your favorite tropical cocktail? Will you be enjoying a Piña Colada today?
