Disney and the Princesses belong to Walt Disney Publications. I do not own or claim any of these characters. Simply inspired by them! All opinions are my own and I was not financially compensated for this posting.
When the weather is warm, one of my favorite little hobbies to do, is to mix a cocktail (or mocktail) to enjoy out on my balcony. Now my son has quickly become a Disney fan at his young age. Every day at some point I’ll see Jake and the Neverland Pirates or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (or now even Henry Hugglemonster!) grace my television screen at some point. Seeing all the Disney promos reminds me of the characters from when I was kid… the princesses!! The idea of playing around and creating Disney princess inspired cocktails (and mocktails!) popped into my head.
One of my favorites was Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty! I think it might have been one of the first Disney movies I saw a child. Now if you didn’t know, aurora is Latin for “sunrise.” Immediately the citrus grapefruit Sunrise drinks popped into mind! Here is what I came up with:
I’ve included recipes for both a cocktail and mocktail version. Hosting a Girls Night In? Try the cocktail version!! Hosting a Disney Princess party for your little one? They might just love the mocktail version. Of course you may want to call it something like Princess Fancy Punch!
The Cocktail
Ingredients
3 oz of Orange juice
3 oz of Grapefruit juice
1 oz of Campari liquor
champagne
Orange or grapefruit slice for garnish
Mix the orange and grapefruit juices together! It’s okay if they are less than 6 oz combined. It really depends on how strong you would like the cocktail. If the juices aren’t already cold, mix them in a shaker with ice. Strain the juices, and then add in the ounce of Campari. Pour into a 16 oz glass (or if using a champagne flute, fill to the half way point.) Then pour in the champagne to the desired level. It’s okay if it hits the rim. Garnish with your fruit slice, drink and enjoy!
The Mocktail
Ingredients
4 oz of Orange juice
2 oz of Grapefruit juice
Lemon-line soda
splash of grenadine
Orange or grapefruit slice for garnish
Now for the mocktail version! Again mix the juices together. Add in a splash of grenadine (less than an ounce). Again if the juices aren’t already cold, mix in a shaker with ice and strain. Pour into your glass (I like to use pint mason jars!), and then pour in the lemon-line soda (Sprite or 7up, or whatever brand you wish) to the rim. Add a fruit slice garnish for fun, drink and enjoy!
They both sound very refreshing, a relaxing treat. Think I will be giving the mocktail recipe a try:)
As a Disney lover, this looks like this would be a drink I would love to have at a party, thanks for sharing.
Ashley, you are so creative! One of my favorite blogs, hands down. Thanks for the awesome recipes!
Love it! My daughter enjoys her “princess” drinks (what she calls pink lemonade, etc).
I am usually not a cocktail person but this looks yummy!! I love a fruity drink!
Either way sounds just delicious to me! It looks super refreshing!
Love the mocktail recipe idea! (I’ve never been one for mocktails, but since I don’t drink, it may not be a bad thing to sample.)
Sleeping Beauty was (and still is) my favorite princess movie too! And oh my goodness that drink sure does look and sound yummy!
