As my son turned 2 years old back in April, I knew this would be quite a year. Yes 2013 is the year we decided to tackle potty training! I always heard that this task would be more challenging with a boy. However, I thought with my sweet baby boy, it would be different. He would cooperate, he would listen to me, and it wouldn’t be long before he was a toilet-using pro. Of course I was wrong. My little man had no interest in potty training and told me his diapers worked just fine. Never fear though, I was up for the challenge to dive into this new bathroom time care routine!
I decided to make my way to Target to pick up some bathroom necessities to help get my son more excited about potty training! As soon as I saw the “Bath Tissue” sign, I knew that was the right aisle. You see, my son is a little big of an energetic wiggle worm. He doesn’t exactly sit still on the toilet, whether he’s finished using the potty or not. Let’s just say I find myself cleaning the bathroom several times daily. Maybe some new “fancy” wipes and toilet paper will excite him about using the bathroom? I know it may sound like I’m grasping at straws, but I was willing to try anything!
I was excited to see a variety of products offered at Target. What immediately caught my eye was the Cottonelle brand. We’ve actually been using this brand of toilet paper for years, but I was curious about their line of moist products. Having only used dry in the past, maybe I should try these wipes? May moist products would be more gentle on my son? Could this be part of his new care routine?
I tell you, I was in luck that day! Target was having an awesome sale for when you buy two 18-packs of toilet paper, you receive a FREE upright dispenser. So I quickly grab my packs of dry toilet paper, my free dispenser which contains cleansing clothes, and a pack of flushable moist wipes as well. With this new variety, I hope my son would find one of these options suitable for his potty training journey.
Once I brought everything home, he was quite curious about what I had in my Target shopping bags! At first he thought all the packs of toilet paper were big blocks for him to play with. Not quite buddy! I was able to safely get all of the new Cottonelle products out of his reach and over to the bathroom for potty training use.
With a variety of dry and moist products, something would catch his eye right? With our new Cottonelle Care Setup, I just knew that my little boy’s messes would soon be a thing of the past. I couldn’t wait to move forward in the potty training.
Now it’s time to get down to business! Here was the real test. He spotted the product immediately as we entered the bathroom. Luckily I convinced him just to relax and “read” his book before picking a new care routine product to use.
Time to choose! He decided to go with the flushable cleansing cloths. It’s a good thing Target offered the free upright dispenser deal! For this 2 year old, he had so much fun pulling the cloth out of the dispenser. Hey! Whatever works to get him excited about using the potty!
Yay! Cleansing time! I’m very happy that the cleansing cloths are flushable. Once he uses them, he can toss them right into the potty. The moist cloth works just like his baby wipes. Refreshed, clean, and happy… that’s how I want my boy to be!
Turned out his favorite part of the routine is the FLUSH! Once his business was done and he found himself clean, I rewarded him by letting him flush the potty.
Could this be his new potty routine? Introducing the Cottonelle products definitely put a smile on his face. Or really just pulling the cloth from the dispenser put a smile on his face… but it still worked! With the help of Cottonelle, my son had “fun” (as he put it) visiting the bathroom and taking care of business. I’m so glad Target had that Cottonelle deal! It’s definitely changed my son’s bathroom care routine, and for the better!
