As I mentioned in a previous post, throughout the month of October, Kidtoons is featuring Chuggington! My son loves the trains at Chuggington, so I knew he would be super excited to see Chuggington: Traintastic Adventures! You can always rely on Kidtoons to present pure fun family-friendly entertainment. Plus I always find Chuggginton to be a wholesome television show that is great for children and families. I love the aspect of lesson learning, whether it’s about responsibility, working together, manners, or making the right decisions!
Luckily our local theater was playing the Chuggington film as their matinee on weekends. Last weekend I decided we could go see it, with of course, taking advantage of the Buy One Get One Free offer! This would be my son’s first trip to the movies. What perfect way to celebrate the “milestone” than with some of his favorite talking trains around. With a running time of 72 minutes, I wasn’t sure how long my 18 month old would last, but it was worth a shot!
The film features six fun filled adventure tales, plus a Bonus Badge Quest adventure:
“Watch as Brewster tests a speedy new invention, Koko’s stunt training saves the day, Wilson gets stuck on the track lift and everybody competes in a big chug-of-war! Young trainees will learn to ride the rails of life alongside their Chuggington pals in this upbeat and fun episodic feature.”
The film starts off with the Safety Pledge! The trains of Chuggington will remind your child to always buckle their seat belt in the car, always wear a helmet when riding their bike, and to only cross the street with a familiar adult. You can visit the Chuggington website to download a Safety Pledge Certificate for your child.
The first episode is “The Brewster Booster”. Since my son’s favorite character is Brewster, he was more than happy to start off with this tale. Dr. Ling helps build a machine to boost the speed of the trains. When Brewster has to picked up lumber in another town, she hooks the booster onto him to test to see how fast he can go. Brewster is there and back in record time! Along the way though the booster goes out of control and Brewster ends up damaging a traffic signal, but doesn’t tell anyone. He’s so excited with how Dr. Ling is impressed with is speed time, he doesn’t want to ruin the moment.
It’s not long before Hodge is on patrol and discovers the broken light. When Hodge takes the booster to fix the light, even more chaos ensues! Brewster knows will then need to admit his issue with the booster. I won’t reveal the ending, but I love that this story focuses on responsibility and always telling the truth.
Next up was “Koko’s New Look”! When Laurie pants butterflies on Zephie’s face, Koko decides she wants face-painting too. Laurie paints flowers on Koko, and it isn’t long before Zephie becomes a little jealous. Soon Koko and Zephie are trying to out do one another by competing to see who is the prettiest. They seemingly make up and decide to paint each other. Unknowingly, Koko paints spiders on Zephie, while Zephie paints a mustache and glasses on Koko. While they bicker about betraying one another, they soon receive a message that Koko needs to pick up the Mayor since Harrison broke down. Will she be able to change her look in time? Can Zephie and Koko work together so Koko can pick up the Mayor looking her best? Here’s another great tale of team work and getting along!
The Badge Quest is Hoot and Toot trying to earn the Manners Badge. However, while trying to earn the badge, they present nothing but bad manners! Luckily Decka shows them the importance of good manners and they are able to earn their badge. This was a cute little short clip with an important lesson!
Next was “Lights Camera Action Chugger” and unfortunately this is where my son started to become restless. We were over 30 minutes into the film so I could understand why at his age he just couldn’t sit still. I think the movie is better for preschoolers and older children. I admit my son was probably a little too young. However, he still loves his Chuggington DVDs! In this story, Action Chugger is filming at the train station. While Brewster is on litter-duty, he sees Action Chugger crash. Now it’s up to Brewster to save the day!
Unfortunately, my son let me know that he was ready to go to lunch, and we were unable to stay for the following episodes:
- Wilson and the Steam Team
- Stunt Brewster
- Hodge and the Chugnav
