Ever since finding out I was selected as a Shaklee 180™ blogger, I’ve kicked up my workouts in preparation of this new lifestyle and routine. When the weather isn’t too cold, I take the stroller out for a good walk/jog around my neighborhood. It’s been hard to get a good run in lately. As a single mom, I have to rely on others to watch my son while a run. I feel guilty using my babysitter for just one hour, and frankly when none of your friends have kids, it’s kind of hard to call them up and ask for help. I feel like I’m imposing!
The big issue though? My running shoes are horrible! They are old, and no longer support my feet as they once did. Running (okay, maybe jogging) became downright painful. I knew if I was going to take this transformation seriously, I needed some new kicks.
As you can tell above, my running shoes, and my back up workout sneakers are in pretty bad condition. The previous week I stopped in my local New Balance to take a look at shoes. I had my feet properly measured and started to browse when someone just wasn’t feeling it anymore. I could definitely tell he was in need of lunch and a nap! So that trip was cut short.
Then this weekend, one of his grandmothers stopped by to watch him while I headed over to MODELL’S to check out their selection. Luckily I had my MVP card and a 15% off coupon in hand! After trying I don’t know how many pairs, I finally went with Nike Downshifter 4 since the fit was comfortable and the price was right (and even better with my coupon!).
Now I just need to update my “running mix!”. For now until I put something together, I’m just using Pandora radio in hopes they get each song right.
What is your favorite song to listen to while running?
I am desperate for some new running shoes!! Let me know how these are after a few miles in them :)
Good luck on your new healthier lifestyle. I have a mix of 80’s songs I listen to while working out.
My running shoes are horrible too, which reminds me I need to buy a new pair! Can’t wait to hear how your new Nike’s worked out for you!
I started running a couple of summers ago in regular old (cheapo) sneakers. After about a month, I managed to twist my knee – probably because of the bad sneakers! Once my knee got better I invested in a good pair of shoes – better to spend there than on medical care.

Love the new shoes! I have had the same style and brand for the past 3 years. I will cry when they no longer make them. Interestingly enough, I don’t listen to music when I run. I like to think and if there is music playing, I easily get distracted.
I need some pumped up music when I run to keep me going!
Ugh I really need to start being more active! Hopefully I will get back into going for walks which will hopefully turn into runs!
I love listening to Pitbull! He gets me going! Love the new running shoes btw :)

I love running with the pop mixes by DJ Earworm (he mixes the top pop songs every year). I finally updated my shoes last month – they had gotten pretty horrible!
I love those! The colors are great and I bet they are very comfy!
Those are super cute shoes! I don’t run but my favorite Zumba songs are by Pitbull. His fast beats really keep me moving!
