Want to guess the temperature at the bus stop this morning? 17 degrees. Yes, 17 degrees!! With windchill I might add. I don’t mind winter, but I’m not a fan of how harsh it can be to one’s skin. Luckily I haven’t had to worry about that lately thanks to the dermatologist developed . In honor of Winter Skin Relief Day, taking place on January 8, I’m telling you all about the ways you can protect your skin from the harsh elements of winter.
Keep Moisturizing Healing Ointment On Hand: A smart skincare routine is definitely one way to protect your skin this winter. I love that CeraVe® Healing Ointment (National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance™) provides skin with the intense, long-lasting moisturization it needs during this season. The formula is non-greasy and gentle in nature. This healing ointment is perfect for soothing dry skin. If your skin is chapped and chafed, no worries. CeraVe® Healing Ointment temporarily protects yours skin and helps to relieve any dry skin caused by the colder air.
Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is a great way to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. This is an easy way to keep your skin healthy from the inside. Water in general is beneficial to your overall health. Don’t forget, nutritious fruits and vegetables contain high water contents. Consuming these types of food is another way to hit your daily water intake goal.
Use a Hydrating Cleanser: Speaking of hydration… Cleanse, hydrate and restore and protect your skin with CeraVe® Hydrating Facial Cleanser, which contains hyaluronic acid to help retain skin’s natural moisture while removing dirt, oil and makeup.
Avoid Wet Clothing: Wearing wet clothing in the winter can easily irritate skin. You especially want to avoid wearing wet gloves or socks! They can leave your skin feeling itchy and can cause sores. No one wants to deal with a flair up of eczema!
Slather on the Sunscreen: Sunscreen isn’t just for the summertime! Even in the winter, I start my day with CeraVe® Skin Renewing Day Cream with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen. This formula is designed to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Did you know that snow glare can still damage your skin?
Cut Back on Hot Baths: After spending the day out in the snow, I always wanted to get inside and relax in a hot bath. Who knew I was doing more damage than good to my skin! Sure it felt nice, but the hot water was actually breaking down the lipid barriers in my skin. This led to a lack of moisture in my skin! I now stick to lukewarm baths, often with oatmeal.
Skin Relief While You Sleep: Everyone needs their beauty sleep! Before I head to bed each night, I apply CeraVe® Skin Renewing Night Cream. It also contains hyaluronic acid, which helps reduce the look of tired skin and supports skin elasticity.
As you can guess, this winter I have become quite a fan of CeraVe® products! With the temperatures dropping outside, I no longer need to worry about the lack of moisture in the air. I’ve been able to protect my skin from harsh elements, and dry skin is the last thing I need to worry about.
Did you know that CeraVe® is actually the first and only brand to offer a complete line of advanced skincare products that contain an exclusive combination of ceramides 1, 3 and 6-11. Now you may be asking yourself “What are ceramides?” It is actually the “glue” that holds skin cells together! Ceramides keep moisture in and irritants out while restoring your natural skin.
This means I can spend even longer hours out playing in the snow with this guy! He sure does love his Snow Days…
Luckily with CeraVe® products you don’t need to apply them over and over again, constantly throughout the day. These products use patented MVE technology that releases ingredients slowly over 24 hours. This allows them to absorb into your skin to hydrate and nourish, as well as restore and lock in moisture to protect your skin. Now you know why I recommend using CeraVe® in honor of Winter Skin Relief Day!

Ugh, this winter is brutal right not! We are in crazy low temperatures here, easily -5 or more. Then adding in the wind chill is insane. Our heat is on all of the time and it is drying out my skin like crazy. I need to get on top of maintaining it better. I will look into this product, thanks!
