Simply put… My family loves sports. We watch it all: baseball, hockey, soccer, basketball, and right now… football! As a single mother, it isn’t so easy for me to hire a babysitter every time I want to join my friends at the local sports bar to watch our favorite teams play. So lately I’ve been playing hostess at my home, setting up an enticing display of football snacks to get my friends to come over. One of my favorites to make is a Warm Bacon Blue Cheese Dip that goes perfect with Cheez-It Grooves and Pringles chips!
After checking out the variety of chips and crackers available at my local Walmart, I started using either Original or Bacon flavored Pringles with the dip. This year I was excited to discover the new product Cheez-It Grooves! Cheez-It offers this hybrid of a chip ad crack in Original Cheddar and Zesty Cheddar Ranch. However the Cheez-It Grooves in Sharp White Cheddar goes perfectly with this dip. Another new Cheez-It product that is great for those Big Game snacks is Cheez-It CRUNCH’D. These cheese puffs are so delicious that my toddler ate most of them before this momma and her guests had a chance to taste them!
I headed to my local Walmart to pick up the ingredients I needed to create a delicious dip for our day of sports watching. I found the Pringles in both the Chips aisle and on a separate display. The Cheez-It Grooves were found over in the Snack aisle by the crackers.
Check out below for a detailed tutorial on how to create a Warm Bacon Blue Cheese Dip.
Ingredients
8 chopped up bacon slices
2 tablespoons of minced garlic
2 packages of cream cheese, softened (8 oz each)
1/3 cup milk
4 ounces of crumbled blue cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
Directions
First let’s get that bacon going! Feel free to cook your bacon as you deem fit. If you’ve never cooked bacon before, why not try chopping up the slices and cooking in a skill with a little bit of oil, over medium to high heat for about 10 minutes, or until you reach your preferred “crispness”! Drain the bacon and set aside for the time being. At this point you may decide to go ahead and preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Saute the minced garlic for about a minute. You can use the same bacon skillet if you wish. I know I usually do! Add the minced garlic and chives to your bacon and set aside for the time being.
Take your cream cheese and stir until smooth. If you want to use an electric mixer, that will make the process go by quicker! Add in the milk, beating until combined.
Once your cream cheese mixture is smooth, stir in the bacon, garlic, blue cheese, and chives. As an FYI, feel free to set aside a little bit of chives to add as a garnish on top later.
Spoon mixture evenly into 4 different 1 cup individual baking dishes or into a 1 quart baking dish. Because I like to place a smaller bowl on my chip plate, I do the four individual dishes and swamp them out as each one becomes emptied.
Place the dishes in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until you notice the top start to turn a golden brown. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top and the extra chives. Your dip is now ready to serve to your hungry Big Game fans!
The Cheez-It Grooves are the perfect crackers for the dip. However I do love the flavoring of Bacon Pringles with the bacon based dip.
Each bite is packed with blue cheese and bacon deliciousness!
If you prefer to enjoy the dip mostly with Pringles, I recommend using a spoon to scoop out the dip and plop it onto the chip. Alternatively you can heat the dip for a longer period of time to thin out the dip more. This will make it easier to scoop with Pringles.
I just love the creamy texture and the hint of salt with the blue cheese and bacon flavors combined. The walnuts and chives do a great job of breaking up the blue cheese taste so that even those who aren’t big fans of blue cheese may enjoy the dip. If your fellow football fans are definitely bacon fans too, THIS is the dip you’ll want to make them for the Big Game!
