So as I mentioned before, I participated in four 5K races in the month of September. The last one I did was the Top Gun Run to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Their mission is to prevent and cure diabetes, as well as work to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Since someone in my family has diabetes, I thought this may be an appropriate race to run!
My time came out to 35:19, which has been on the faster side since I’ve started running again. Certainly not my personal best, but I’m still proud of it. Hopefully in 2014 I’ll be able to get my time back under 30:00, as it was pre-baby. We’ll see though. For now I’m just happy to complete a race without having to stop.
So far for October I’m only signed up for two races, which includes one actually this week. I have a few I’m running in November as well. Some of the charities I’ll be running for include Wounded Warrior Project, The Semper Fi Fund, Midwest Food Bank, and the Folds of Honor Foundation. I’m going to try to resist signing up for more until my shins and knees start to feel better. I don’t want to completely overdue it and end up injuring myself more.
I know I always say this… but if any of my readers are runners, I would love to hear your suggestions on how I can reduce or prevent any pain. I’m still icing, so that helps ease it a bit. I mean my knees aren’t in horrible pain, however less pain would be nice! Thank you!
All opinions are 100% my own.
