Let me tell you how I’m still on Cloud 9! Thanks to the quite generous people of Disney and Marvel Entertainment, I recently attended the red carpet premiere of Thor: The Dark World this past Monday night. The #ThorDarkWorldEvent (I hope you were following the hashtag) was so surreal. I’m pretty sure I was pinching myself while I walked the red carpet to make sure I was really there. What an experience! Just the night before I had walked the red carpet for the Delivery Man premiere. When the time came to head to the Thor premiere, I was more than ready to re-live that red carpet magic that I experienced at Delivery Man! So once again, twenty-four other bloggers and I arrived on the Red Carpet at the El Capitan Theatre and eagerly awaited our turn to walk. The one word that keeps coming to mind when I think back at the moment of walking? AMAZING!
So let me chat first a little about the movie. Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy. In the aftermath of the last Avengers film, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. It is not long before Thor sets upon his most dangerous and personal journey yet, forced into an alliance with his not so trustworthy brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
Like the Delivery Man premiere, standing on the red carpet itself was a short moment. However, it was still quite surreal. Luckily one of my bloggy friends was able to use my camera to snap my red carpet moment for me. With my Thor-inspired shoes, sparkly dress, and big blingy earrings (I’m sorry you can’t see them in the photo!), I was ready to go and pose:
After my walk, we were ushered inside. What actually was really cool about the event was that inside on the big screen, the El Capitan was showing the live feed of red carpet coverage. From our seats we could watch the celebrity interviews that were going on just outside.
Now speaking of celebrities… doesn’t the cast look amazing? (Thank you to Marvel Entertainment for sending over this photograph).
I think the number one request I received from friends was to “snap a picture of Chris Hemsworth.” Like I said, my time on the red carpet was short. However, here you go my friends… I was able to snap this one photograph quickly of Thor himself. Yes, it’s his backside, but hey, at least I got the photo for you all.
As for the movie? It was awesome! I have to say… one of my favorite aspects of this Thor installment was the comedic moments. Sure, this isn’t a comedy… it’s a super hero action film! However, Kat Dennings kept me in stitches as Darcy. Also Thor gets in a few funny digs in, as well as Loki. I promise, you’ll have a few chuckles. Also don’t forget to stay after the credits for a scene or two! This is a Marvel movie after all. When are there NOT scenes after the credits?
After the movie, I headed outside where actually I was able to get up on the big red carpet stage. For some odd reason, the rest of the Thor cast didn’t want to join me. *sad face*.
My Top 5 Reasons to see Thor
- It’s Marvel! I mean come on… do you need another reason? Lately Marvel movies have been nothing short of amazing. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America… these movies rock!
- Shirtless Thor. Okay ladies, let’s be honest. The eye candy may not be the only reason we go to see Thor movies. However, it definitely doesn’t hurt!
- More action! Yes, this time around the film is PACKED with action. Not that the first Thor movie wasn’t… but if you love action films, this one will be up your alley!
- Avengers cameo. Okay, I won’t say much except that yes, an Avenger does make a cameo in the film. You won’t want to miss it! It’s kind of hilarious in my opinion.
- The Loki Villain or Redemption Debate. So many people have been speculating whether Loki will stay a villain or try to find redemption. This film finally answers that question! Or does it…? Loki is the Trickster after all. Guess you just need to go see the movie to find out!
#ThorDarkWorldEvent Instagram Fun
The Delivery Man events weren’t the only happenings I live instagrammed on my trip! Hopefully you were following ashb4211 and saw the feed from all the fun Thor events as well. Definitely check out the #ThorDarkWorldEvent hashtag to see not only mine, but my fellow bloggers’ photos from all the Thor fun! Yes I took my usual selfies that often pop up on my account. Leaving the theater I actually ran into Michael Rooker (Merle from The Walking Dead), who can be seen in Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy (along with Chris Pratt of Delivery Man). He was just the sweetest man!
Don’t forget to connect with THOR on Facebook and Twitter! The film is out NOW! Yes, Thor: The Dark World hit theaters today. So I hope after you finish reading this post you are making plans to head to your local theater. Whether you are a fan of Marvel, action movies, or Chris Hemsworth… definitely go see this film!
A HUGE THANK YOU to Marvel Entertainment and Disney for all their hard work on this film and such wonderful Thor: The Dark World events. I had an absolutely amazing time at the premiere, one I will always remember. I honestly can’t thank Disney enough for their generosity. Thank you!
