Million Vet March on the Memorials ~ October 13th #1MVetMarch
The government shut down hasn’t been easy on anyone! Sadly one of the many effects of the shut down is that there is no limited or no access to war memorials. Many of these memorials were originally open 24 hours per day, seven days per week with little or no staffing and were paid for with tax payer funds.
As sacred places for reflection and to pay respect to those who fought for our country, many veterans are upset that they can no longer visit the memorials. A Million Vet March to the Memorials has been organized. Veterans, along with their friends and family, will join together at the National World War II Memorial in Washington DC on Sunday October 13th at 9 AM. Their goal is for Congress to introduce legislation allowing these memorials to stay open during any budget disputes.
If you would like to support the Million Vet March, but cannot make it to Washington DC, feel free to browse rallying points in your local State. Please do not assemble at a national or war cemetery.
