With summer here, the sun is out in full force! Sure it is a great time to be outside and head to the beach. Keep in mind though, you need to wear sunscreen! Sometimes the sun’s rays get us though, and we find ourselves with a dreadful sunburn. Check out this list of natural remedies for a sunburn that have worked for my family and I over the years.
Natural Remedies for a Sunburn
Aloe Vera – You can easily find pure aloe vera gel at your drugstore, or actually take an aloe vera plant and open it up to find the gel inside. You will actually most “sunburn healing” products out there include aloe vera. This cactus plant gel helps speed up the healing process of the burn while cooling your skin to minimize discomfort. Better yet, it helps keep the skin moisturized too!
Ice – It’s pretty straight forward. Take a bag of ice (or ice pack) and wrap it in a towel (or paper towels) and keep it on the burn to help cool the skin. Just remember to never place the ice directly on your skin! That can actually cause more pain.
Milk – Soak a washcloth in cold milk and then apply to your sunburn. This should create a thin film which actually help reduces the heat and pain you are experiencing.
