Ever been out and about, and then suddenly see a kid fly by you? You look at their feet, but all they are wearing are sneakers. How can this be? Well, it’s Heelys!

I recently had the opportunity to try out Heelys for myself!  I received a pair of Heelys Wave (7672) in Grey/Pink.  The shoes arrive without the wheels installed, as if they were just a pair of typical sneakers.  The wheel was easy to install, just pop it in and push.  The Heelys are comfortable and fit nicely.  Even if they didn’t have wheels in them, I would probably still wear them as regular sneakers.

Back in elementary and middle school, I was an avid roller-blader/in-line skater.  I was hoping the Heelys wouldn’t be too difficult.  I practiced in my kitchen daily, holding onto the counter to help with keeping my balance.  It only took a day to get to the point where I was comfortable to push off from the counter and skate across the kitchen.  It was the move of going from walking into skating that took awhile.  I’m sure this will come much more natural to the youngsters!  My advice is to watch the videos on Heelys’ site and GO SLOW!  You will eventually learn the moves, but there is no need to rush into it.   Practicing near a ledge you can grab on to will prevent falls.  I can happily say I didn’t fall once!  All in thanks to my kitchen counter, that I could quickly grab.
