The first word that popped into my mind after I screened Disney’s film version of Tim Crothers’ QUEEN OF KATWE was… uplifting. There just something about a triumphant “underdog” story that is good for the soul. And who does it better than ESPN when telling a truly uplifting sports themed story? No one. Except for maybe Disney. Which is why it’s absolutely perfect that the two teamed up to present the inspirational true story of Ugandan chess champion, Phiona Mutesi, and her teacher, Robert Katende, on the big screen.

Power Their Dreams with Select P&G Products at Walmart ~ #LetsPowerTheirDreams

PowerTheirDreamsMy son and I have been super into watching the Olympic Games this year, especially now that my boy has started swimming. He loves watching the divers! Right now one of his favorite activities is to go out to the pool and dive for his rings. Sure he hasn’t exactly mastered the art of diving and swimming like the Olympians we watch. However I love that he strives to be like them one day. Even at just five years old, I must say, I admire his dedication. It reminds parents like you and how when it comes to our kids, we must . Plus it’s so cute when he chants “USA” any time he sees Team USA grace the screen.

Disney PETE’S DRAGON Review ~ #PetesDragonEvent

PetesDragonReviewCollageAs children we all have that one movie that we could watch over and over again. For my son, it’s the original 1984 GHOSTBUSTERS. But for me… it’s a Disney classic… BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. However, the original 1977 PETE’S DRAGON was definitely in my top five. I loved watching the fun mix of live action and animation, while singing the songs from the whimsical musical. When Disney announced they would re-imagine PETE’S DRAGON for their live action slate, I wasn’t sure what to expect. As time went on and I saw the trailer and clips, my curiosity grew into pure excitement. On Monday night I was finally able to screen the movie, and I was not the least bit disappointed! WOW. What. A. Film.
