So here I am at the end of Week 2 with Nutrisystem on the Women’s Select Success Plan. At the beginning of the week I was feeling great from my 4 pound loss from Week 1. I was quite worried though about Week 2 because I knew it was going to be a challenge. For most of the week I was going away for a conference and knew I would have to try my best to stick to a good diet and add in Nutrisystem foods when I could.
I should note by saying at the end of Week 2, I’ve lost 1 pound. I wish the number was better, but I’ll take a weight loss over a weight gain any day!
Week 2 – 1 lb.
So one of my main focuses for this week was getting My Daily 3 in every day. For the most part, I squeezed my activities into the day as a whole 30 minutes (or more!) bunch, instead of dividing it up into 10 minute intervals. I was especially proud of myself that on two of the days I was able to get in good brisk walks that lasted for an hour!
Another goal this week was to increase my servings of vegetables. One of my favorite dishes I created with Nutrisystem was mixing peas into their Macaroni and Cheese! Such a simple dish and so easy to do. A lot of the Nutrisystem pasta dishes are great for adding your own vegetables too. Adding peas kind of reminded me of my childhood when my mom would sneak peas and other vegetables into our cheesy pasta meals.
My favorite breakfast item this week was the French Toast! It was so delicious, I did not feel the need to add even a little syrup or butter. Just so easy to throw in the microwave for a minute and I was good to go. Again, I love how everything is portioned for a busy mom like me. It just makes it that much easier knowing I don’t have to measure or count calories.
Now to the challenge of this week. As I stated above, I had to attend a conference for work for a few days. I was able to bring my Nutrisystem breakfast with me and had those meals every day except for one. For that particular morning, I only ate half of what was served for breakfast. Unfortunately, as many of the meals were “group meals” or “working meals”, I was unable to fit the Nutrisystem meals I brough into my diet. I had to have what was served. I did the best I could keeping the portions small, and choosing the healthiest options. One lunch was a salad of lettuce with tuna fish salad on top, while an example of a dinner was two very petite crab cakes. It was hard to stay focused on the diet plan when you are surrounded by others who aren’t on the plan, and you are expected to “wine and dine” where socialization is centered around the meals. I think being away from the comfort of my kitchen and the expectation of eating non-Nutrisystem meals had a lot to do with not loosing more weight.
For Week 3 I’m headed out again away from home. Only this time, I’ll have access to another kitchen where I can bring my Nutrisystem meals with me. Fingers crossed I see a bigger loss number for Week 3!
