The Bowie Baysox & Travis Manion Foundation Team Up for Navy Night August 5!
As a long time Maryland resident, I grew up going to Bowie Baysox baseball games. I recently learned that the Baysox are teaming up with the Travis Manion Foundation to host a special Navy Night at Prince George’s Stadium on Friday, August 5! The team is set to square off that night against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 7:05 PM (hopefully with your support and attendance!), with a fireworks show after the game.

Advice for Parents Whose Kids Want To Play Sports ~ #RipkenWay #Ad
Today’s post is sponsored by Ripken Baseball through the Bloggy Moms Network.
Growing up in Maryland, when you hear the name “Ripken“, one word immediately comes to mind… BASEBALL! Cal Ripken, Sr. spent 37 years associated with our hometown team, the Baltimore Orioles. He first played as a catcher, before moving onto manager and company man. Of course any fan of the Orioles, or really any fan of baseball, will recognize the name of his son, Cal Ripken, Jr., a Major League Baseball Hall of Famer. Cal Sr. dedicated his life to teaching the value of hard work and effort to his sons. Together Cal Jr. and his brother Bill played a combined 33 years in the Major League, with Cal Jr. setting the Major League record with 2,632 consecutive games played, and Bill owning a .985 career fielding average. I can definitely say that Cal Sr. taught his boys well!
I knew if I ever was going to send my little baseball fan to a sports camp, I’d of course want him to learn the “Ripken Way” when it comes to playing out on the field, or batting at plate. Ripken Baseball is committed to maintaining baseball at the highest level, while making sure campers still have fan and enjoy the game!
New MILLION DOLLAR ARM Clips + Interview with Jon Hamm! ~ #MillionDollarArm
You know what I absolutely love about Spring? Baseball season starts!! I may or may not have an unhealthy obsession with all things baseball (Go Red Sox!)… so that is exactly why I’m super excited about the release of Disney’s latest film MILLION DOLLAR ARM!
The film tells the true story of sports agent JB Bernstein, played by Jon Hamm, who finds himself in quite a rut career wise. He soon concocts a scheme to find baseball’s next great pitcher by hoping to turn a young cricket pitcher into a major league baseball star! JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called “The Million Dollar Arm.” It is there that he discovers two 18-year-old boys who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball! Hoping to sign them to major league contracts, JB brings them to the USA for training. While the boys learn the finer points of baseball, JB learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.
Be sure to watch the featurette below which includes an interview with the film’s star, Jon Hamm!

Get Ready for #WorldSeries 2013 as the Boston Red Sox Take On the St. Louis Cardinals! ~ #WinToday
Alright baseball fans! The World Series starts today and we couldn’t be more excited!! My Boston Red Sox will face off against the St. Louis Cardinals, in the pursuit of their 8th World Series ring. That’s right… it’s the Beards vs. the Birds!
This will actually be the fourth time these two teams have faced off for the World Series. The last time these two teams played each other was back in 2004, when the Red Sox ended up winning the series (and finally breaking the Bambino curse!!!). Both teams ended the regular 2013 season with a 97-65 record. (Yes, if you aren’t familiar with baseball, the teams do play that many games!).
I’m not the only blogger out there excited that her team has a shot at the 2013 Ring! My bloggy friend Sam, over at Nifty Mom, is a huge Cardinals fan. So you can imagine her excitement when she learned that the Cardinals are pursing their 12th championship!
Now we couldn’t help but place a friendly little wager on who’s team comes out on top. Be sure to pay attention to our social media accounts after the Series. You will then see what the “loser” as to do in honor of the winning team! Let’s just say both us have our fingers crossed that our team wins.
Don’t forget that Game 1 at the historic Fenway Park starts tonight with the first pitch scheduled for 8:07 p.m. EST! Will you be watching?
Who will you be rooting for in the World Series: the Boston Red Sox or the St. Louis Cardinals?
All opinions are 100% mine. I have not been influenced otherwise, except for my totally bias love of the Boston Red Sox!
