Over the summer I was lucky enough to attend press events for the film THE 100 FOOT JOURNEY! I was super excited to learn that actress Helen Mirren received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the movie.
To celebrate not only her nomination, but that the film is now out on Blu-ray and Digital HD, I wanted to share these holiday leftover food hacks. Your leftover turkey and mashed potatoes will get a creative overhaul with Indian flair!
As I mentioned before, I had the opportunity to screen the film THE HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY, which hits theaters TODAY! If you haven’t read my review, yet, I actually posted it yesterday. I hope you take a look!
For those unfamiliar with this small film produced by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg, THE HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY tells the story of Hassan Kadam, who is a culinary ingénue with the gastronomic equivalent of perfect pitch! When his family settles down in a small French village, they open an Indian restaurant, Maison Mumbai, much to the dismay of Madame Mallory (Academy Award®-winner Helen Mirren), who runs Le Saule Pleureur, a Michelin-starred, classical French restaurant right across the street! At first the two restaurants engage in a culinary battle, until Madame Mallory recognizes Hassan’s gift as a chef and takes him under her wing.
While out in LA, not only did I have the chance to cook at the world famous Le Cordon Bleu, but I also was able to interview the star of the movie Manish Dayal, who plays Hassan!
As you can tell from the Recipes Section of my blog, I very much enjoy getting in the kitchen and cooking whatever comes to mind! Lately though, with the pressures of work, being a working mom, and attempting to maintain a decent social life, I haven’t been feeling the culinary inspiration. That is until I headed out to Los Angeles a few weeks back…

They decide to settle down and open an Indian restaurant, Maison Mumbai, much to the dismay of Madame Mallory (Academy Award®-winner Helen Mirren), who runs Le Saule Pleureur, a Michelin-starred, classical French restaurant right across the street! After watching the film, we headed to Le Cordon Bleu Los Angeles for a tour of the school and cooking lesson! I think THE HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY is EXACTLY what I need to get my creative foodie juices flowing!

Cooking and culinary creation is a huge theme in the movie. So while out in Los Angeles, it was only natural that we check out Le Cordon Bleu Los Angeles to get a peek into the culinary world! When we first arrived, Chef Chanel Martinez generously took us around the school showing us the various kitchens and giving us some background on what students could expect when attending.
So the month of June had kind of been a vacation month for me. My BFF and I took off to Maine and once I returned back to Maryland, I turned right back around and headed up to Boston and Rhode Island! While in Boston, as I was headed into the Frost Bar at Faneuil Hall, I decided to check my email via my phone on a complete whim… My sister thought I was absolutely crazy when I started shrieking with glee! I received an email inviting me to Los Angeles for press events, with one specifically related to a movie I’ve been counting down the days to see… Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!
Now once I calmed down (and had a few ice drinks in celebration!), I pulled the email back up to read it carefully and see what else was in store. Disney, Marvel, DreamWorks, and ABC Family definitely put together an amazing few days in Los Angeles for 24 other bloggers and I to attend press junkets and events in honor of several new films and projects!
