Surf Sweets ~ Fruitfully Delicious, Naturally Good ~ #Review & #Giveaway

As moms, we always worry about what goes into our little ones’ bellies.  Of course I want my son eating what is nutritious and healthy. Though let’s face it, kids love candy.  It’s a fact!  However candy doesn’t always need to be filled with unnatural junk. Why not find your children a candy that is not only organic and natural, but delicious as well?  This is why I was very excited to learn about Surf Sweets!  They offer a complete line of all natural, organic gummy candy and jelly beans.

Surf Sweets generously sent me an assortment package of some of their best-selling products. This pack included Gummy Worms, Sour Worms, Fruity Bears, Sour Bears, Gummy Swirls, Jelly Beans, Snack Pack Multipack of Gummy Bears, a Snack Pack Multipack of Sour Bears, and the brand new Spooky Spiders! Let’s just say, when this package arrived, the whole household was circling to dive right in.

All of Surf Sweets’ products use certified USDA Organic and natural ingredients. You won’t find synthetic flavors or artificial colors in their treats!  Better yet, their candies also provide 100% of your Vitamin C per serving! Surf Sweets are free of trans fats, GMOs, corn syrup, gluten, artificial colors and flavors.  Worried about allergies?  These snacks are produced in a peanut-free facility that is free of other common allergens (wheat, dairy, soy, eggs, tree nuts, shell fish, and fish). How awesome is that?

I myself love candy. So it was great knowing this sweet treat was not full of all the artificial junk.

So first let’s chat about the Snack Packs and Bears!

Each Multipack contain five .9 oz packs. These are the perfect size for traveling, school lunches, or placing in goody bags! With Halloween coming up, this might not be a bad idea to hand out to Trick r Treaters! Since the little man is still too young for school, this momma took some to work with her. Yes they made an awesome snack for when that 3:00 pm wall hit.

I did give a few to my friends to place in their kids’ school lunches. Of course they were a hit! What kid doesn’t enjoy candy? It’s the healthy aspect that makes these snacks guilt-free. Made from organic fruit juice, and organic sweeteners, the Bears have a great natural taste including these mouth-watering flavors: cherry, grape, grapefruit, strawberry, orange, and lemon.  One of the best aspects of the Mutlipack, aside from delicious taste, is that a portion of its sales benefit the non-profit Climate Cycle, which funds green educations projects in K-12 school.

As stated above, I additionally received larger bags of the Fruity Bears and Sour Bears.

Other Surf Sweets favorites included the Jelly Beans! Now usually I’m not one for Jelly Beans till around Easter time, but I have to say, these are so good, I think Autumn (or any season) is the perfect time to devour some beans! And for all you vegetarians… yes, these Jelly Beans are a vegetarian treat!

Packed with fruit flavor, I love that they are made with organic sweeteners and organic fruit juice. Flavors include cherry, grape, grapefruit, strawberry, orange, and lemon.

Another favorite is the Gummy Swirls! These reminded me of these cream drops that I used to buy at the beach. They have that retro feel to them that I love. Made with natural fruit juice, these Swirls are not only vegetarian-friendly, but they are also complete vegan! Flavors include cherry, orange, and strawberry.

Since Halloween is coming up… wouldn’t these Spooky Spiders make the perfect treat! These juicy spiders are perfect for decorating any Halloween themed treat such as cakes, cookies, or cupcakes. We decided to use them as decor for cupcakes. The kids we have over loved them. It was too funny to watch them giggle about the “squishy spiders” they were eating. Flavors include cherry, line, tangerine, and blueberry.

I love that a portion of the sales of these Spiders to go the Eco-Mom Alliance. They are a non-profit organization nurturing, connecting and empowering mothers to create a healthy and sustainable world.

Next up… The Worms! I received both Sour Worms and Gummy Worms in the 2.75 OZ bags. With Halloween happening next month, I wanted to use the worms for an easy creepy recipe.  I decided to use the Gummy Worms to make “Dirt Cups”! I served these at a Halloween party last year and they were quite a hit. So why not I make them again, only this time I’ll use Surf Sweets, which will help cut down the sugar count in this dessert.

So I decided to simply the recipe as much as I could. Grab your Surf Sweets Gummy worms, a chocolate pudding brand, and a chocolate cookie brand. First follow the directions to create your chocolate pudding aka the “mud”.
Next place the worms in your cup. Pour some mud on, and add another worm. Keep going back and forth to your desire. It’s your own creation so add as many worms as your cup will fit!
Then take your chocolate cookies and break them up into small pieces. I usually place the cookies in a baggie and let my son go to town banging on them. This creates the “dirt” to place on top of the mud. After you do so, add another Surf Sweets Gummy Worm for good luck, and enjoy!
We used the Sour Worms as cupcake decor. However, by the time it came to decorate, there were not many left. The Sour Worms were quite popular! At least I was able to save a few to snap a photo.
Overall, I was very happy with the product that Surf Sweets puts out, especially since they are one of the only candies out there in the market made without corn syrup.  I think these snacks are perfect to hand out at play group or at a party.  You never know who has an allergy, and it is good to know that these candies are  gluten-free and casein-free.
