Ooops! I know I’m behind on updating the races that I’m participating in! Back on October 12th, the Spooktacular 5k/10k Run-Walk took place in Los Angeles. Unfortunately since I couldn’t jump on a plane and make the race, I ended up running as a virtual runner here in my (very cold) hometown. While yes, it would have been beyond awesome to run under the California sun, a race is a race and I’ll participate no matter what… even if it means running in 46 degree weather.
As you can see below, my times are slowing down. I’m started to wonder if there is more to it than just the cold elements. My knees haven’t been giving me much trouble as they used. My shins have been doing better too thanks to my compression socks. Overall though while I’m running, I feel like my body is not as “strong” as it was before. While it could just be the cold weather and having to work harder… I am worried it may be something else. Maybe I need to step up my running regime to more often? I would have to loose my endurance. We’ll see though!
First off can we just chat about how awesome this medal is? I love this Sugar Skull!! I’m not sure if you can tell from the photo, but it is quite sparkly, and this girl loves her running bling! If the medals are always this awesome for the Spooktacular race, I definitely want to participate again next year.
Now even though my times haven’t been great lately, I decided to step up my challenge. Next month I’ll actually run in my first official 10K race! I’ll be running in the Annapolis Running Classic. I’m excited but nervous at the same time. The Classic is hosting a Half Marathon as well. Maybe next year that can be my challenge… but for now, I’m going to stick with the 10K. Any tips are appreciated to help me with the process of double my running mileage. A 10K race is 6.2 miles as oppose to the 5Ks (3.1 miles) that I’ve been running. Wish me luck!
This past weekend I participated in the Battle Buddy Run! Hopefully I’ll have those results ready soon and can post an update. It’s going to be a busy week since I leave for Los Angeles this Saturday for the #ThorDarkWorldEvent and #DeliveryManEvent!
All opinions are 100% my own.

I would imagine the cold weather plays a part, but it is always wise to talk with your family doctor. There could be underlying issues that you don’t want to ignore.

How did you sign up for the virtual side? I live in Florida and I need these cute medals! :)

Hi Jamie! The registration is open for the the 2014 Spooktacular Race! When you go to sign up for the “Los Angeles” race, there should be a Virtual Option right there on the active.com registration site. They medals this year are sugar skull themed again, and super cute! http://www.spooktacular10k.com/
