When I first heard about SodaStream, I quite curious about the concept. So with this compact machine, I could take my regular tap water, and turn it into a soda of my choice just within a minute? With the summer heat bearing down, sometimes I just want a cool refreshing cola! Despite enjoying soda, I’ve just never really been the type to go to the store and spend money on soda pop, due to the costs, and they fact that I would have to live those heavy cans and liters up 3 flights of steps to my condo. The convenience of SodaStream was definitely an intriguing concept and I could not wait to test out and learn more about this awesome product!
The SodaStream system allows consumers to carbonate water and to flavor carbonated beverages at home as an alternative to purchasing pre-packed bottles or cans. This has many important benefits to the consumer including cost savings and no hassle with bottles.
Soda Stream generously sent me the Fountain Jet model along with a wide variety of soda syrups and flavorings for carbonated water. I was so excited when I came home from work that day to see the Soda Stream packages waiting for me. My family and I have been wanting to check out this product for quite some time. I have to say that the concept is quite unique and I was looking forward to see if their soda creation system would taste just like my favorite brand name soda pops. I was certainly impressed with the secure packaging of the products and appreciated that everything was protected and nothing arrived broken or leaking.
I was more than thrilled when I saw they included a syrup for Root Beer, my favorite soda pop flavor! I’ll admit, I’m not a huge soda pop drinker, so I was very excited that they added flavoring in case I decide to make just flavored water.
The process is quite easy. First you simply fill the liter bottle with any regular water that you wish. Proceed to screw it into the machine and then tap the button on top three times to ensure carbonation into the water. Unscrew the bottle and while tilting, slowly pour in the syrup or flavoring of your choice. In the images below, we used the Root Beer since I just could not wait to try it!
Then very slowly stir and shake the bottle (demonstration in the video below) to mix the syrup and water. Then just pour and you are ready to drink! Of course, feel free to throw in a few ice cubes.
I was certainly impressed with how easy and simple the the system is to complete. I was even more impressed how delicious tasting the soda was too. At a recent party, I think my guests were more excited to come over and make their own soda instead of being excited to see me! Everyone was so impressed, I think I’ll have to keep SodaStream in mind next time I need to buy a housewarming gift.
Overall, I highly recommend a Soda Stream to anyone who is interested in making their own soda. It will help you save because you won’t be paying retail prices on soda. Plus there is also the convenience that you won’t have to drive to the store. You create soda right there in your home. The Soda Stream is also eco-friendly since you won’t be throwing out all those 2 liter soda bottles. Lastly, it has just a just a third of the calories compared to your regular Pepsi or Coke.
