When I was a young twenty-two year old, I bought myself a brand new dining room set, complete with white cushions. I thought it was stylish and modern. Babies were no where near on the brain so I wasn’t worried about getting the white cushions messy or stained. Little did I know… The last thing I wanted to put on my chairs were those awful clear vinyl stick-on protectors. Luckily for me and other parents, a mom-inventor created the Smart Seat Chair Protector to not only prevent spills from damaging the cushions, but letting chairs maintain a stylish look!
The SmartSeat was created when our co-founder, Becky, bought a new dining room set and couldn’t find a simple, waterproof, and attractive protective cover for her chairs. She didn’t want sticky vinyl covers that flopped over the seat and squeaked when sat on. And, having purchased fabric upholstery that she loved, she didn’t want a slipcover that would completely change the look of the chairs. Armed with scissors and a stapler (she can’t sew!), she fashioned the first SmartSeat. We’ve since tweaked the design, but the concept is the same: a simple, safe cover that protects your upholstery and looks great too.
I received a Smart Seat Cover to test out and review! The color I was sent is the Midnight Blue. Other colors available include Sandstone Tan, Chocolate Brown, and Metro Black. One of my favorite aspects about Smart Seat is that not only is it waterproof and stain resistant, but that the cover is made with soft-to-the-touch, toxin-free fabric! With little ones running around, toxic-free is always a plus!
With an almost one year-old, he can get messy. When he is in a seat on top of one of the chairs, I usually just lay a towel down. Not very attractive at all. The Smart Seat provides a nice alternative! The SmartSeat design uses adjustable velcro straps to securely fit chairs ranging from 18″ to 25″ wide.
Normally you can just attached the front straps to the back straps. However, since my chair was on the smaller side, I opted to cross the straps as seen above. After you have all 4 straps attached, you simple smooth out the material on the seat to create the best fit.
Want to clean the cover? That’s easy! The Smart Seat is machine washable in warm water on the gentle cycle. Then line dry the cover. For those stubborn stains, just try a diluted bleach solution (1 part bleach, 10 parts water).
Below is a video of the waterproof test! I poured water directly onto the cover. The liquid did not sink through soaking the cushion. See the results for yourself!
Buy It: You can purchase Smart Seat covers right off their website! An individual seat cover retails for $19.99. However, the more you buy, the more you save! For instance, if you buy 4 to 5 covers, then you save 10% and only pay $17.99 per cover. If you purchase 6 to 7, you save 20% and only pay $15.99 per cover. If you purchase 8 or more, you’ll save 25% and pay $14.99 per cover. The Smart Seat is also available for purchase at retailers such as Amazon.
I received complimentary product(s) to facilitate this review from the sponsoring company. This is 100% my own honest opinion. No one has influenced me otherwise and I was in no way compensated financially. This review is solely based on my own experience with this product.
These would be great when I go visit my mother. I could put these on her dining room chairs and not have to worry about getting them dirty. Thanks for sharing this!
These look like they really work. I love your water proof test video! Quite convincing! :-) Always god to see something like this tested.
Hey! That’s pretty cool! I think they would be great to hide the spot I already have. Thanks
I need these! My chairs are in desperate need of reupholstering however when I do find the time to do so I don’t want the kids to ruin the fabric again.

LOVE these! I don’t have cushions on my set right now but if I change that in the future I will definitely be needing these!
Looks like a great product and it looks neat as well as something that would work well.
These would be nice to have. I like that they attach by velcro.
