While out in Rhode Island this month I took full advantage of the gorgeous summer weather. Many evenings were spent enjoy the cool breezes coming off the ocean, while I sipped on some of my favorite shandy beverages. For those who don’t know, a shandy is beer mixed with a soft drink, carbonated lemonade, or juice.
One of my favorite concoctions I conjured up was a Shandy Ice Cream Float! When I was up north, I found Narrangansett® Del’s® Black Cherry Shandy in a local store. I knew I had to pick it up and use it in my ice cream float! Below I’ve included a super easy tutorial on how to create this drink!
Ingredients
A can of shandy (preferably Narrangansetts® Del’s® Black Cherry Shandy)
Lemon-lime soft drink
Vanilla ice cream
Directions
First take a few scoops of vanilla ice cream and place them in your glassware. Crack open your ice cold shandy, and pour into the glass about 2/3 of the way.
After that, take your lemon-lime soft drink, and slowly pour it into your glassware. You’ll see a foam start to form, and stop pouring the soft drink once it looks like the foam will overflow.
Use your straw to slightly mix the ingredients around, and then enjoy! I love enjoying these drinks after dinner. Not only are they a great “dessert” so to speak, but they are quite refreshing and help beat the heat!
