Okay, so I usually I try to hold off on the holiday music till after Thanksgiving, but there is just something about the day after Halloween where I start to get drawn to Christmas and the holidays. Once the ghosts, goblins, and jack-o-lanterns are tucked away, it becomes a little hard to resist placing out the tree, and decorating my home with that Winter Wonderland theme. You know what though? If I’m in the holiday spirit, then I’m going to be in the holiday spirit! Luckily, Rod Stewart’s Merry Christmas, Baby arrived on my doorstep at just the right time.
“I have always been tempted to do a Christmas album,” said Rod Stewart. “And now that I once again have young children, the timing couldn’t be better.”
The Verve Music Group generously sent me a copy of Merry Christmas, Baby so I could start getting in the holiday mood and take a listen for myself! Now if you haven’t heard of Rod Stewart… you either are going to make me feel really old (hey! I’m still in my 20s!) or you live under a rock :). He’s Grammy Award®-winning and a two-time Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee! So I was super excited to learn he was releasing a Christmas album! The album featured many of his musical friends such as Cee Lo Green, Mary Jay Blige, and Michael Buble to name a few.
While the album has some great holiday classics, I particularly enjoyed the titled song Merry Christmas, Baby! It’s a fun rocking song, especially great to play while decorating the home for Christmas. My son was even bopping around to it. He also enjoyed Red-Suited Super Man! I think that was probably his favorite.
If you are a fan of Rod’s sultry voice, you will love his versions of White Christmas and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Beautiful classics! Listening to this album definitely put me in the Christmas mood. While I resisted the urge to actually put my tree up, Rod Stewart’s Merry Christmas, Baby is the album to play when that time comes. I love that the album is family friendly and that everyone can enjoy his holiday renditions.
