As a mom, I’m always on the look out for any educational DVD for my son. We are constantly working on flash cards, reading books, singing songs, well you get the picture. Though he is always interested on the moving picture and bright colors on the big television. If he is going to try to watch it, I might as well make sure it is educational and his mind is benefiting. This is exactly why I was thrilled to learn about Rock N Learn!
Rock ‘N Learn began as an idea that would help children learn by putting educational material to music with a current sound — the kind of music that kids enjoy and find motivating. Now with over 50 products, we have sold millions of audio/book and video programs to teachers and parents throughout the United States, Canada, and other countries. Rock ‘N Learn programs help students learn math, phonics, reading, early childhood, social studies, Spanish, test-taking strategies, writing, and science. Our DVDs incorporate music with exciting, colorful imagery.
Rock N Learn generously sent me their Letter Sounds DVD for review! Geared towards an audience of children ages 4-7 years, this DVD features 11 rockin’ songs about the letters of the alphabet. Your child will learn how to pronounce each letter, along with read and sounding out words.
Though my son is only 10 months old, we decided to watch the DVD along with some of my friends’ children who ranged in ages 2 to 6. They all loved the DVD! One of my favorite parts is the “on-screen mouth” that shows your little one how to form each sound. Even at my son’s young age, this is great for him because I often noticed that he has started to mouth the words when I’m reading to him. I found the characters featured to be quite fun and engaging. My son couldn’t stop staring they were so eye-catching! One of the little girls (age 3) who watched it with us, wanted to make sure I included in my review that the animals were her favorite. Yes, I can saw the animals were quite fun to watch. The games included on the DVD were an especially awesome touch. The kids absolutely love it!
Overall I can’t wait to check out Rock N Learn’s other DVDs in their series. I can see how beneficial they will be to my son in the future, especially when he hits preschool and kindergarten. I can see how this DVD may also be a great addition to any classroom. The on-screen mouth works great as a tool for teachers and speech therapists.
