I’m excited to announce that on #MayTheFourth, Lucasfilm and Star Wars: Force for Change present Roar For Change, a global challenge in support of UNICEF, who focuses on lifesaving work for children around the world!! Did you know that since 2014, Star Wars: Force for Change has raised $16 million charitable causes? Amazing! For their new campaign, STAR WARS fans are invited to share their own version of Chewbacca’s iconic roar!
Simply capture the moment you recreate Chewie’s famous roar, and share on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, using the hashtag #RoarForChange. For each public post, like, or share on the social media platforms from now through May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Force for Change U.S. will donate $1 to UNICEF USA, up to $1 million.
The initiative kicked off with a video featuring the cast of SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, revealing Chewbacca’s diva behavior on the set of the new movie, which hits theaters on May 25. Watch below!
It’s so easy to help give back! You can share your best Chewie impersonation in so many different ways! Hasbro has actually released a voice-changing Electronic Chewbacca mask that is perfect for this campaign! Also you can create a Dubsmash using one of Chewbacca’s best-known roars from STAR WARS, which will be hosted on the app’s homepage for the duration of the campaign.
Headed to your local Disney store today through May 6? Make sure you roar and post on social media in your favorite Disney store (nationwide) using #RoarForChange! You will receive 10% off your STAR WARS purchase!
Today, on May 4th, guests at the Disney store in San Francisco will have the chance to meet Chewbacca and roar alongside the legend himself!! And if you are on the East Coast, head to New York to check out the first-ever Brick Millennium Falcon pedicab!! Fans will have the chance to roar alongside Chewbacca in Bryant Park!
