Lately life has been a little on the stressful side. You know what helps relieve stress? Shopping! I decided to treat myself to some new fashion. I decided to browse online to look at the Spring 2013 fashion collections of some of my favorite designers for outfit ideas. When I was looking through the look book of Kate Spade, her colors and patterns immediately jumped out at me! I just love the color block looks!

Just this past week I headed to Walgreens to pick up some items to cross of my shopping list. So as I walked in, I noticed immediately a display advertising Sally Hansen Color Block Display! Looking down at my chipped polish, I knew I needed a change. Thinking back to the Kate Spade collection, I had an idea to try to create some of her color block looks onto my nails. I mean, it had been a stressful month… I think I deserve a little pampering!
I couldn’t believe all the amazing colors that Sally Hansen offers! I noticed that both the Sally Hansen Extreme and Salon Effects are on sale 2 for $5 with 1000 Points on your Walgreens Rewards card through April 7th. I almost picked up a bunch till I saw the Insta-Dri line! Even though I was looking forward to some quiet time to paint my nails, quicker is always better! I grabbed five awesomely bright Spring colors, plus a clear top coat. Sally Hansen also offers these amazing nail art pens to add in the little details on your nails. My Walgreens was sold out of most colors, but luckily they had black!
While shopping, as I walked my the freezer aisle, Starbucks Iced Coffee jumped out at me. Now if you are a loyal reader of my Facebook page, you know I love my coffee! I decided to pick up some delicious snacks too for my at-home nail treatment.
Once home, sketched out how I wanted to design my nails after Kate Spade fashion. Sitting out on my relaxing balcony in the warm weather, I started by painting a small portion of each nail one color. This would represent on “block” of color.
I used scotch tape to try to help me create a more clean line than if I did the painting freehand. I don’t always have a steady hand while painting my nails, especially when I’m using my left hand trying to paint my right! The scotch tape, or washi tape, works perfect in assisting you with the design.
Now you may need to do some touch ups after you finish adding the color block design on your nails. I admit that mine did look a little rough after I was finished painting. Luckily you can draw right over those edges with the Nail Art Pen!
I love how easily the pen slides across my nails. It made drawing the lines to easy and simply. Once the black paint dried, I simply added a top coat and woo hoo, my nails were done! Colorful, bright, and just screamed Kate Spade spring look!
Now not only were my nails ready for my new Spring outfits, but I also was able to have an enjoyable and relaxing afternoon! What better way to enjoy Spring and get into fashion mode than giving yourself a manicure, sipping on your favorite beverage, and munching on your favorite snack?
Polish Used for Color Block
For the design, I used:
Nail Art Pen – Black
205 – Pink Blink
250 – Lightening
425 – Blue Away
440 – Mint Spring

Super cute! I don’t think I would have the patience to attempt that but my sister used to love painting her nails all different designs. I’ll have to show this to her sometime.

I think I actually like it better before you put the black lines on it ;). That’s pretty neat though. Going to show my daughter. She’s always looking for new nail designs. Maybe I can be her guinea pig for some of these ;).

What a great idea! I am boring when I paint my nails!

Love the manicure, but it’s definitely more work than I would commit too! I rarely do my manicure, since I am clutzy with my hands and chip it too fast! I only do epicures during sandal season, so pretty piggies definitely say spring to me!
