On October 25, 1988, then-President Ronald Reagan designated the month of October as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. The tragedies of miscarriages, medical terminations, stillbirth, and infant loss have touched the lives of my family, my friends, and my own. This month I would like to present a series of articles to raise awareness, whether they help my readers find comfort if they have endured a loss, or help educate if those who have not. Many of the articles are written by my dear friend Jennifer Davis, the founder of Avery’s Butterflies. This nonprofit provides a safe place for families to grieve their loss and find comfort.
