If you follow me on social media, you probably know how excited I am to see Disney’s PETE’S DRAGON. Even better, I’m excited to announce that I’m heading to Los Angeles in less than 2 weeks for one amazing press trip! PETE’S DRAGON isn’t the only film, I’ll be covering. I will also attend events centered about THE JUNGLE BOOK, QUEEN OF KATWE, and MOAANA!
Pete’s Dragon
So probably one of the most exciting activities I’m going to participate in while out in LA, is walking the red carpet! Yes, I will walk the red carpet at the premiere of PETE’S DRAGON, which opens in theaters on August 12.
It’s been quite a couple of years since the last time I attended a red carpet world premiere (THOR: DARK WORLD anyone?) Not only will myself and 24 fellow bloggers get to attend the film’s premiere, but we will also interview the one of the film’s stars, Bryce Dallas Howard!
Please feel free to comment with any questions you may have for her about the film! Or you can shoot me a line over on Twitter. I’ll certainly try to ask her what I can on the behalf of my awesome readers.
Be sure to connect with the film on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr. Don’t forget to check out our Pete’s Dragon Activity Pack and Elliott the Dragon Craft.
One of the fabulous bloggers also heading out to Los Angeles for this amazing press trip is Barb over at Rural Mom! She recently shared with her readers how to create Pete’s Dragon Punch. Since it’s non-alcoholic, it’s perfect to make for your little ones to enjoy.
The Jungle Book
While in LA, I will also attend an event for the home entertainment release of Disney’s stunning live action version of THE JUNGLE BOOK! This box office success comes to Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on August 23, and on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and On-Demand on August 30.
Be sure to connect with THE JUNGLE BOOK on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Tumblr, and YouTube. Want to try a taste of the India, the setting of THE JUNGLE BOOK? Check out our Baloo’s Biryani, inspired by the film! I whipped this up one day when I was inspired by the culture and flavors of India.
Still on the blog we also have activities inspired by the film: “Spot the Difference”, a maze, and Hexaflexagons.
Queen of Katwe
Another film I will screen during the press trip is QUEEN OF KATWE, out in theaters September 23.
This movie tells the story of a young girl in rural Uganda whose life changes once she is introduced to the world of chess. With the help of her family and village, she pursues her dream of becoming an international chess champion. The film stars newcomer Madina Nalwanga as 10-year-old Phiona Mutesi. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o plays her mom Harriet, who is determined provide for her family, putting food on the table and roof over their heads. David Oyelowo stars as Robert Katende, a soccer player turned missionary who teaches local children chess, and introduces young Phiona to the game.
Be sure to connect with QUEEN OF KATWE on Facebook and Twitter.
Moana
While I won’t be able to screen the whole film, I’m very much excited to preview footage from the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios release MOANA! This film opens in theaters on November 23. For MOANA, Disney selected native Hawaiian newcomer Auli’i Cravalho to voice the Moana, alongside Dwayne Johnson, who will play demi-god Maui. MOANA tells the tale of a spirited and compassionate teenager, who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her adventure, Moana meets Maui, where he is able to guide her into become a master wayfinder and sail across the ocean on an exciting voyage!
Be sure to connect with the film on Facebook!
