This month I received an Organic Fruit Pouch Sampler from Peeled Snacks, that I won through Closer to Lucy. My sampler contained the following:
- Apple-2-the-core (2.8oz) – apple
- Apricot-a-lot (5oz) – apricot
- Paradise Found (3oz) – banana, mango, and pineapple
- Much-Ado-About-Mango (2.8oz) – mango
- Banan-a-peel (3oz) – banana
- Raisin expectations (8.4oz) – raisin
- Farmer’s Market Trio (4.5oz) – apple, cherry, and raisin
- GoFigure (5oz) – fig, date, and apricot
Much Ado About Mango and Raisin Expectations were my favorites. I loved the mango flavor and the fruit was not too dried out. There was still a bit of juiciness and sweetness to the snack. The raisins were plump and juicy as well. Very tasty and good to know that no sugar was added! I also enjoyed Banan-a-Peel and Paradise Found. The bananas had great flavor but were sometimes a little rough to chew. I would still purchase both snacks again though. The apple was a little on the sour side, and was hard to chew as well. I they had used sweeter apples. I enjoyed Farmer’s Market Trio as the apples in that pouch were a little easier to chew. Though again, I wishes sweeter apples had been used. Apricot-a-Lot was my least favorite. Though the taste of the apricots were not bad, the texture was just not my favorite. I found the skin a little too bitter for my tasting. Though while the apricots were still juicy, I think in general maybe I’m just not a fan of apricots in general. In Go Figure, I enjoyed the figs and felt they had great taste and were still plump, but I would pass on the apricots and dates.
The calorie count was higher than I expected on these snacks, but the sodium and fat levels were either zero or very low. The fact that some of these snacks were very sweet without the sugar, I found them to be a great substitution for something “unhealthy” when I get that sweet tooth craving.
Overall I enjoyed tasting Peeled Snacks and plan on stocking Much Ado About Mango in my household. If you are interested in tasting your own sampler pack, it retails for $27.99.
