I feel like it was just yesterday I was back in elementary school reading the tale of Sophie and her new found friends… The BFG. This was the book that introduced us to snozzcumbers and Whizzpopping!
I can’t wait till my son is at reading age and can enjoy The BFG as much as I did! Luckily though, he will be able to enjoy this beloved story by Roald Dahl, when it hits the big screen this summer.
If you are unfamiliar with the story, The BFG is actually a “Big Friendly Giant”, not like the others in Giant Country. The other Giants are twice his size, and eat humans, something that the BFG does not do! He quickly becomes friends with Sohpie, a precocious young girl. They set off on an adventure to Dream Country where the BFG collects dreams and sends them to children. It is there that he teaches Sophie all about the magic and mystery of dreams…
Director Steven Spielberg quoted, “It’s a story about friendship, it’s a story about loyalty and protecting your friends and it’s a story that shows that even a little girl can help a big giant solve his biggest problems.”
