The holidays were beyond hectic for me! Between getting the gift guide done, decorating the house, wrapping up in the office before break, and wrapping all the gifts for loved ones, my head was spinning! Slowly but surely things are starting to calm down again, and I can return to my only slightly hectic routine.
This got me thinking about my “special place“… The place I go to get away and gather my thoughts. Newport, Rhode Island!
Growing up in Maryland by the Chesapeake Bay, I cannot imagine living somewhere not near water. So of course my relaxation go-to place has to be on the water! Newport is nestled on Aquidneck Island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Narragansett Bay. The above picture was taken on the Cliff Walk along the ocean. Despite all the snow, it was taken in March! That’s New England for you!
In my 20 something years, I can’t even count how many times I’ve been up there whether for 2 weeks, or 2 days. While I did vacation up there while pregnant, unfortunately I have not made it up since giving birth. This April will be the little’s man first trip to Newport! While I’m sure he will still be too young to remember it, I can’t wait to spend some relaxing time with him away from the craziness that is my life in Maryland.
What about you? Where is your “special place”? Where do you go to relax and “get away” from it all?

That would be so to live by the water. I live in the midwest, so I am no where near water. I am very jealous. Pretty picture! Have fun with your little man when you go

Like you, I grew up on the Chesapeake, and the few years I lived in the middle of the country, I went crazy. I MUST be near water. I live in Seattle now, surrounded by bridges. :) In fact, I live within walking distance of the boat docks, just like when I grew up. :)
I’ve never been to Rhode Island, maybe I should put it on my list.

This is tough for me… my usual answer is Lake George, NY in the Adirondack Mountains. It was so much “my place” that I bought a house there (hence the “Adirondack Chick” website. But, now, I think I sometimes need somewhere away from there. lol

This looks majestic! We don’t have snow during the winter so I’m envious of people that do! Thank you for sharing this!
