Growing up outside of Washington DC, attending Capitals games with my dad was a regular occurrence! My siblings and I were groomed to be hockey fans, and is still a sport we very much enjoy watching. So when I had the chance to take my son to a Hershey Bears hockey game, I knew this would be the perfect family outing for us… especially since the Bears are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Capitals! The Hershey Bears actually offer a Family 4-Pack which makes this even more the obvious choice for a family night. But you better hurry though! The season ends next month!
Included with the discounted pack, you’ll receive four tickets to a game, four hot dogs, four fountain drinks, four popcorn boxes, and a program! If your kids are anything like mine, you know how much kids enjoy snacking during these fast-paced sporting events.
Let me first say that definitely one of the benefits of staying at an official Hershey resort is that they provide transportation to and from the Giant Center (schedule permitting). Parking is $9 for games, but thanks to the concierge at the Hershey Lodge, that is one less thing I had to worry about! A shuttle took us and two other families to the game, dropping us off right by the entrance. And after the game? Sure enough the shuttle was waiting for us in the same spot. Our wonderful driver was listening to the game so he knew exactly when to head back to the Giant Center to meet us.
We had awesome seats! However I can tell that since the Giant Center is a little bit smaller than NHL rinks, it seems that no seat is a bad a seat! Even the nosebleeds have a great view of the rink and action.
If you decide to attend a game, but did not have time to get your own Hershey Bears gear… don’t worry! There are several souvenir and apparel shops throughout the Giant Center.
The Hershey Bears were playing their long time rivals, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins that night. The tension was high and the action was intense! My son loved every second of it (between his bites of food of course.)
While there is an awesome variety of food options at the Giant Center, we went with the classic hot dog and popcorn. However one treat my son especially enjoyed was a soft pretzel from Uncle Andy’s! So good! You can choose from a variety of pretzels and dipping sauces, but we went with original.
Between each period there is entertainment for those who decide to stay in their seats. The music was also great and definitely gets everyone excited and pumped during the game.
For my friends who go to Navy hockey games with my son and I, you know how much he loves to dance when the music starts blaring. The Hershey Bears game was no different!
We truly had so much fun that night. The game was an absolute blast and of course the Bears winning was the icing on the cake to a great night.
Check out highlights from the game and see the action for yourself!
Don’t forget to connect with the Hershey Bears on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
I received complimentary tickets to the Hershey Bears game. All opinions are 100% my own.
