Just 11 days to Halloween! We’ve been in full Halloween and Autumn themed cooking/baking here in this household. Fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons and my 2 year old has quickly taking a liking to Halloween. What better way to celebrate the season than with one of my themed popcorn treats? Here is my recipe for my favorite Halloween Popcorn Treat!
If you are a loyal reader, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that I love to make popcorn treats to coordinate with my favorite holidays. So yes, we have one for Halloween as well!
Ingredients
Bag of microwave popcorn
3 cups of mini marshmallows
4 tbsp of orange color jello
1 bag of chocolate chips (semi-sweet, dark, or white)
1 bag of candy corn
orange colored sprinkles
Directions
Place the butter in a saucepan with the heat set on low. Slowly stir the mini marshmallows into the melting butter. You don’t have to let the marshmallows completely melt, but just so that they soften. Stir in the jello mix to give the mix the orange color!
Place your already popped popcorn in a bowl, and pour in the orange marshmallow mixture. Stir with a spoon to make sure the orange coats evenly. Once you have the popcorn coated orange, place it in a baking pan. Mix in the amount of desired candy corn. Pop it in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes at 300 degrees. If the popcorn appears sticky, heating it in the oven will help reduce the stickiness.
As for the chocolate drizzle, use the directions on the bag to melt 1 cup or less of the chips. Once melted, drizzle on the popcorn as it is laid out in a baking pan. Then quickly sprinkle on the orange sprinkles before the chocolate hardens. If your grocery store has other fun Halloween themed sprinkles, feel free to add those! Place the popcorn (still in the baking pan) in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. It may take long depend how much chocolate you used.
After the chocolate is harden, remove the popcorn and serve! You will probably need to break up some of the popcorn has it is has probably stuck together a larger sections. I just place mine in a big bowl for all to share, as well as in mini cups. Enjoy!
