Can you believe it’s been 21 years since the release of No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom? It was then that the world was introduced to Gwen Stefani, and she’s been rocking the music scene ever since! I’ve always been a huge fan of not only her style and voice, but her diverse style of song writing and talent as well. She always puts so much into her music, and this is evident with her new album “This Is What The Truth Feels Like”.
I’ve always enjoyed both of Gwen’s upbeat dance grooves and emotional sounds. This album has both! Personally I enjoy working out to her music. It gives me the right beat, especially when running, to hit my stride. However there are songs like “Used to Love You” that just tug at the heartstrings. You can tell she was really channeling her heartbreak from her split with Gavin Rossdale, and channeling her energy into her music.
“This Is What The Truth Feels Like” includes twelve tracks:
1. Misery
2. You’re My Favorite
3. Where Would I Be
4. Make Me Like You
5. Truth
6. Used To Love You
7. Send Me A Picture
8. Red Flag
9. Asking For It
10. Naughty
11. Me Without You
12. Rare
Where Would I Be is probably once of my favorite songs off the album as it reminds me of Gwen’s playful nature with a light reggae/ska like sound. I always really enjoyed Red Flag with it’s edginess. Definitely reminds me of one of those songs you listen to while dealing with a breaking up. Very personal. She also offers a great duet with Fetty Wap on Asking For It.
