I must say, I think I’m my parents’ favorite child right now.  If there is one thing you should know about my family, it is that they love chocolate.  Nay, they LOVE chocolate.  I was very lucky enough to recently sample an assortment of Belgian chocolates from Guylian!  Let’s just say, I think I have a new favorite brand.
Now my mom was over watching my son the day the package arrived.  She took one look at these perfect chocolate seashells, and I just knew I had found the perfect gift for her on holidays and her birthday.  Guylian Belgian Chocolates are the perfect gift for any chocolate lover or even if you want to treat yourself!
Guylian Chocolates date back to the 1950s when chocolatier Guy Foubert married a woman by the name of Liliane.  Together they joined their names to create Guylian!  As masters at their craft, Guy realized the world was ready for chocolate of a different sorts.  Together, Guy and Liliane created for the first time their signature chocolate sea shells.  Guy filled the shells with his signature hazelnut praline filling, while Liliane created the gorgeous marble look on each artistically design shell.  Take one look at these chocolate, you can easily see the love and passion Guy and Liliane had for the craft.
So first up, the Original Chocolate Sea Shells.  These are my favorite!  Each shell is crafted with a blend of delicious white, milk or dark Belgian chocolate.  This creates the shining marbled look that Liliane had envisioned.  Filled with creamy chocolate truffle filling, I feel quite confident enough to describe these chocolates as “heaven”!  The hazelnut flavor leaves your mouth watering for another bite.  These chocolates are absolutely creamy and luxurious.  The truffles easily melt in your mouth.  They are rich, but not too rich that you can’t easily pop more than one.

As I mentioned before, not only do these chocolates taste divine, they are also beautifully crafted.  The designs include 10 unique shaped sea shells as well as Guylian’s signature seahorse.  Now I always love a company with a heart.  In honor of the seahorse, Guylian is a proud sponsor of Project Seahorse!  Project Seahorse is dedicated to conserving seahorses and other marine life around the world.

    I had no idea there was such a difference in Belgian chocolate. So much quality goes into their Artisanal Belgian Chocolate. I am very impressed!

    belgium has more than 2000 chocolate shops in the country. that may seem like a small number, but it is big considering I've driven across belgium in less than a day!

    Mmm, I learned that they yummy chocolates should pair well with dessert wines like Port, Madeira, Muscat/Moscato and Banyuls.
