Just last month, Marvel Studios finally released the much anticipated teaser for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2!! I know my family has been eagerly awaiting this film, well, pretty much since the day after we saw the first GUARDIANS. While I was fortunate enough to attend a press trip for the first film, which included a screening, you bet I saw the film again in the theater once it officially released. And again, and again. To date, it is my absolute favorite Marvel movie. So yes, I pretty beyond excited for the sequel, which is exactly why I’m sharing with you today this tutorial for Galaxy Candy Bark, inspired by the film.
Okay, so I know the new GUARDIANS film will not hit theaters until May of 2017. But when your son is watching the first GUARDIANS on TV, and asks you to make a space recipe, how can you say no? Yes, my child now assumes that any time we see a movie, I can magically conjure up a recipe associated with the film. Luckily for him, I knew right away that we could make Galaxy Candy Bark. Trust me, it’s super easy, and your kids will have a blast helping you create it.
Ingredients
30 – 36 oz of black candy melts
10 – 12 oz of dark blue candy melts
10 – 12 oz of blue and/or purple candy melts
Pan sheet lines with aluminum foil
Sugar sprinkles in color of your choice
Star sprinkles
Directions
First you will want to melt your candy. I melt one bag at a time. Empty the contents into a microwave safe bowl. Then melt the candy in the microwave at 30 second intervals. Stir between intervals. Do this until the candy is melted.
Then pour the candy on a pan sheet, lined with aluminum foil. I like to add the black candy first, and spread evenly with a spatula. Then with the other colors, I’ll add a bit here and there on top of the black. Then I use a knife to create a swirl effect. My son likes take the other colors and add a “splatter” effect on top of the candy. Then add on your sprinkles. We found some really cool white star sprinkles from a local cake accessory store. We also used the gold sugar sprinkles as seen in our Iron Man Candy Bark tutorial.
Then place the pan sheet in the freezer for one hour. Once the candy is in a “bark” appropriate state, go ahead and break it into pieces! Finally you can serve and enjoy the Galaxy Candy Bark! Keep chilled and stored in a dry container.
If you leave the bark in the freezer for too long, no worries. You can also use a knife to break the pieces up. It’s really that simple. Such an easy treat to make, that will be sure to bring a smile to your favorite little Galaxy fan.
If you haven’t checked out the teaser yet for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, I suggest you do that now! Even from those little tidbits, how awesome does this film look? Pretty awesome. Obviously.
