With my son, I often find myself cutting his food into small little bites. While it does take time, I don’t want to risk him attempting to eat a piece that could be too big. Cutting into smaller bites makes it easier for him to pick up and to chew. With a knife, it is a longer process and risk cutting yourself on a the sharp edge. This is where FunBites comes to the rescue! Bobbie Rhodes, a wife and mother of two, is the creator of FunBites. Just like me, and many other moms out there, she spent more than her fair share of time cutting food into small bites. She created FunBites to help “speed” up the process, as well as making meal time more fun!
FunBites cutters are made of a curved blade that is not sharp to touch! Unlike knives, these are safe for even your little ones to use (with adult supervision of course!). The matching popper top helps pop out food instantly. I love that FunBites are made in the United States! Plus they are BPA free. Need to clean them? FunBites are top shelf dishwasher safe.
FunBites generously sent me their pink heart shaped cutter which creates 10 geometric shapes.
First you simply place the cutter over the food you would like to slice. For instance, I made grilled cheese for my son. I just placed the cutter over and pushed down. You can rock it side to side while placing pressure to ensure a good deep cut into the food.
Place the fitted top into the cutter. Life and push down the top to release the food. Pop out the top and you have the various little pieces cut out on your plate!
This doesn’t just work on sandwiches though! FunBites works great on fruit such as watermelon and cantaloupe. You can also great fun shapes for breakfast on pancakes, french toast, and omelets just to name a few.
Have a picky eater? My younger cousin is picky about what she eats. She “does not like” pizza. I though every kid loves pizza, but not her. I let her mom use FunBites on a pizza they ordered one night. My little cousin just loved the little hearts that she gobbled though pieces right up. The fun shapes and designs seem to be a great to get your ids to eat foods they previously refuse to eat. We test FunBites out on squash and zucchini. Guess what? It was a hit! My son and his cousins loved the triangles and hearts so much, it didn’t seem to matter to them what they were eating.
Buy It: You can purchase FunBites on right off their website. Each cutter retails for $12.99, but if you buy both, the price is just $22.00. FunBites are also available on Amazon.
