In the wake of what happened in CT, I don’t think SNL could have picked a more powerful and appropriate cold open to their show last night. I’ll admit, I totally teared up.
Towards of the end of the show, SNL presented a skit entitled “Holiday Pageant” in which host Martin Short and musical guest Paul McCartney audition. Well I don’t want to spoil it, but if you find the skit boring, skip to the 3:50 mark. Normally I turn off that song when I hear it, but this time I kept it on. I was wrapping gifts so I was in the holiday mood. Plus the looks on these kids’ faces… you could tell it was the highlight of their year!
The second vid wouldn’t play on my phone for some reason so I’ll have to watch that one later. The first one did though, and it was so moving. I totally teared up too.
That was beautiful, I love to see everyone pulling together and showing how kind people can be, just wish it did not take something like this to make it be seen. My prayers are still going out to those families, I could not imagine what they must be going through.
Neither video is showing up for me. I can’t believe what happened. Yesterday, John said, he still couldn’t stand to even look on facebook because everything he saw was about what had happened.
They are embedded from Hulu so they do take a moment to pop up :( Maybe I’ll switch to NBC’s videos instead.
I love SNL ~ they really have a way of doing things like this “right”!
