Yesterday was February 1, the first day of the Mommy Bloggers 21 Day Weight Loss Challenge! Dustin Maher from Fit Moms for Life generously put together a program for a bunch of us bloggers to help us get back in shape. After having a baby last year and dealing with a knee injury right afterward, I desperately needed to get my butt into gear and whip myself back into shape. Learning about Dustin’s program, I was excited to start and looked forward to slipping back into my bikini, which I haven’t worn since I learned I was pregnant. Dustin is providing us with an exercise routine, meal plans, and great tips!
So I’ll just straight out say it that Day 1 one did not go at all how I planned. It started out great in the morning. I had a nutritious breakfast, and I packed a healthy lunch and snacks to take to work. Once I got to work though, things started to go downhill. Busy busy busy, I ended up missing my lunch. When I realized I desperately needed something to eat, the first thing available was two pieces of rye bread to take with me while running around. How random is that? However, I will give myself points for resist the candy and donuts that were in the staff kitchen.
Once I came home, I knew it was time to work out. My plan was to do the whole workout, since I had done the whole workout Monday, and took Tuesday to rest. My son had other plans. I can’t blame him, he is just a baby. He is teething and unfortunately by the time I get home, his dinner time is about an hour away. I ended up skipping strength training and did several rounds of the 8 minute cardio workout. I was about halfway through core workout when I knew I had to stop and making him dinner. I totally need to find a mother’s helper!
By the time I finished up with him, finished the laundry and cleaning up around the house, I realized I totally missed the dinner? The salmon filet I thought I took out of the freezer to defrost, well, it was still in the freezer. Exhausted, I just poured myself a bowl of mini wheat. Not at all what I had planned.
I haven’t gotten to the store yet to get everything on the meal plan. I do have several items already there, so I’m just doing a modified version the best I can right now. I plan to make it to the store by Sunday at the latest.
Fingers crossed that I can do better today and get a good workout in. I just need to put my mind to it and focus! Good luck to my fellow bloggers!
Despite a rocky start, it sounds like you made a lot of great, healthy choices today and did the best you could – way to go! It’s not easy trying to get back into shape with a little one to care for – and working, too! You are doing great! Good luck with the challenge!
