I know I’ve mentioned this many times before here on my blog, but as a working mom, my mornings are always rushed! Seriously, extra time? Nah! It does not matter even if I wake up half hour to an hour before my usual wake up time. For some reason I still am in a rush to get out the door.
Now breakfast is probably the most important meal of the day. It recharges both the brain and body, and boosts your metabolism in the process! This is why even during the most chaotic mornings, I make sure both my son and I have a breakfast to enjoy. Just sometimes I have to enjoy mine while walking out the door, or even once I reach the office. Trust me, I wish sometimes I was a mom that would have the time to make scrambled eggs and french toast with fresh berries and whip cream made from scratch; but I’m not. So I have to work with the time and money I have, which is why I’m always on the lookout for breakfast savings!
Normally I find myself eating the same bowl of milk and cereal every morning. Okay, actually it’s more half eating my breakfast, while half putting on make up or straight-ironing my hair. This routine starts to get stale. I knew there had to be other easy and fast breakfast options out there!
Buy 4 Save $4
Currently Safeway is having a Buy 4 Save $4 sale! Now through March 5th, just look for the yellow Buy 4 Save $4 tag on specially marked items and save! As I browsed around the store, it was great to see so many breakfast items as part of this promotion.
Now came the real test of an actual rushed morning where I had to prepare breakfast for both of us. I was happy that the items I purchased during the Buy 4 Save $4 sale could be eaten quickly at home or on the go! With the Pop Tarts, I love that there is two in each pack. This means one for me and one for my son. Plus with yogurt, there is no prep time. Simply open and enjoy. I can even carry my yogurt with me from room to room while I get ready in the morning.
Busy Families Need Breakfast Too
One of the most attractive aspect of the breakfast items I saved on at Safeway is that none of the items required prep time, unless I decided to heat the Pop Tarts up for a moment in the toaster. I took at look at my breakfast… Fruit? Check! Dairy? Check! Carbs or grains? Check! I was set and good to go. In no time I was able to finish my breakfast and hurry back to getting ready for work.
As I mentioned, I do certainly enjoy fruit with my breakfast. I always ensure my son has all his servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Bananas are probably his favorite! Of course I had to pick those up. I can easily cut a banana in half, one piece of each of us. However with his half I usually slice it up into smaller pieces, just like I do for his Pop Tart. I’m sure you can tell by the smile on his face he certainly enjoyed something a little different than his normal cereal or oatmeal.
Now what I love about the items I purchased is not only their lack of prep time, but that I can take them on the go! Morning just way too rushed? No problem. I can just toss the items in my purse and enjoy a quick breakfast at my desk when I arrive at work. Being a busy mom can be stressful at times. However, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a filling breakfast!

On school days we sleep as late as we can, so we really don’t have a lot of time for breakfast, so breakfasts on the go are, well… the way to go. Greek yogurt is my go to breakfast, and my son either eats Pop Tarts or a cereal bar.
Susan Bewley says
I’m a big fan of the greek yogurt option!

what an awesome breakfast though I may swap out the poptart for a whole grain breakfast bar with less calories and carbs as i’m watching my girlish figure. My son would totally flip for this though

Oh I love Oikos and orange juice, both. This would be a great breakfast!

This is such a great idea. My girls love all these!!

Some of the ideas are healthy, but some are full of sugar (like the Poptarts). In my house, we stick to cold cereal like Cheerios with milk and maybe some fruit.
Tara says
Oh great breakfast idea! Greek yogurt is a staple in our house!

I have yogurt for breakfast a lot and love it. Bananas are an almost everyday snack for me, because of running. I never rush my breakfast and I always have one. :-)

What an awesome sale! I wish we had a Safeway here!
Laura @ Frugal Follies says
That looks like a lot of sugar for one breakfast; I think you’d do better with a couple of hard-boiled eggs (easy to carry to work!) and a piece of whole-grain bread, along with the banana. Just my opinion!
Sarah Jane says
Love all the ideas, with the exception of Pop Tarts. Greek yogurt is amazing!!
Monica says
Breakfast is so hard to get my kids to eat and eat quickly during the week before school. Poptarts are definitely a favorite. I don’t like giving them to the kids a lot though. Not the healthiest of breakfasts ;). Not bad for the occasional we’re in a hurry grab a poptart though.
No Safeways in my area to take advantage of this deal.
