If you recall, not too long ago I posted my review of MexAmerica tortillas. In the feature, I mentioned how I created Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips with their Whole Wheat with Honey Tortillas. I did give a quick run down of how to bake these, however some people emailed me asking for more specifics. So I decided to post the recipe I use to create these Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips!
Ingredients
Whole Wheat tortilla
spoonful of butter
cinnamon sugar
Directions
Directions are pretty direct and simple. Only a few steps. First preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then place your tortilla on a baking sheet. I often used non-greased aluminium foil underneath the tortilla. However I have just baked the tortilla right on a baking sheet and have not had issues.
Place the butter in a bowl. Then melt the butter in your microwave. Once melted, spread or brush onto the tortilla. You don’t need to put on too much. Just a little to hold the cinnamon sugar, but not too much that it takes awhile for the chips to bake, or the chips turn out too chewy. A pastry brush works great! However I often use a spoon since it works just fine.
Sprinkle on the cinnamon sugar! Feel free to be generous! I know I am sometimes if my sweet tooth is bugging me.
Slice the tortilla into chips. I usually take a pizza cutter and slice it into 8 pieces like a pizza. Then I’ll take the cutter around again in a circle to create the design shown. This way makes 16 chips per tortilla.
Bake in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until crisp and light brown. Don’t let them burn!
Let the chips cool for a moment. Careful take them off the baking sheet. Then serve and enjoy!

You kill me with all the wheat recipes :P j/k My kids would love these, and I think this may be easy enough for my oldest to make on his own too.

What an incredible idea, so easy too! I so need to try these, thank you! Is it bad that I am thinking of dipping them into some ice cream? Lol!

I used to make something similar except i’d add butter and only heat them until warm so the tortilla would stay mostly soft and ti would taste like an elephant ear :)
