Last month you may have noticed that I was promoting the Chive Maryland New Year’s Eve event to raise funds for Chive Charities. As it turned out, the event was a huge success! According to the administrators, there were over 1000 people in attendance, and as someone who was there, I can definitely believe it!
Chive Charities is dedicated to championing the underdogs. Among the causes we focus on are disabled and sick individuals with rare medical conditions, disabled veterans in need of quality of life enhancements, underfunded special needs education initiatives, and organizations that provide emergency assistance / disaster relief.
Now back in June, the Maryland chapter set the record for an unofficial meetup total with almost $23,000 raised for a designated charity. The record was then later set by South Dakota, who clocked in at almost $25,000 raised at an unofficial meetup. The highest Chive Charities meetup donation prior to NYE was held from the chapter out in Los Angeles at around $17,000.
As you can see from the graphic above… Maryland CRUSHED this! With the help of chapters from the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, CHIVE Maryland raised an amazing $30,000 for Chive Charities… and this is AFTER expenses. Yes, Chive Charities received a donation of $30,000. Just reading that sentence over and over again just leaves me in awe. It’s amazing what good-hearted people can do when they come together for a good cause.
Countless people donated their time and talents to make this event happen. DJ Xela came all the way from Detroit, MI to donate his DJ talents for an awesome dance party. I also must note that Baltimore’s own Ice Lab studio donated an Chive MD ice sculpture as well. Many auction items were donated to the silent auction to help raise money as well. I have to give a shout out for my BFF who donated a signed Baltimore Ravens Ray Rice jersey, and a signed Washington Nationals Stephen Strasburg jersey to the auction. He had no connection to the Chive whatsoever, but saw that this charity was important to me, and wanted to do what he could to help. *HUGS MISTER*.
Chive Maryland 2013 Highlights Video
Often when I mention the Chive, many people think I’m just referring to the Adult Humor blog filled with male-geared content. I think often they don’t realize the charitable side of this organization. Their “flash mob” fundraising model still makes my jaw drop when I see how much money they can raise in just a short amount of time. I tear up whenever I still watch the Chive Charities’ “Making the world 10% happier” video. Below is a video that was shown at the #ChiveNYE event, highlighting the Maryland chapter’s amazing year of community, social, and charitable events.
If you are looking for a great way to socialize, make new friends, all while helping out charities and noble causes, you’ll definitely want to seek out your local Chive chapter. It’s amazing to think that this all started as an “Adult Humor” blog, and now helps countless individuals across the nation.
Again, I just want to say congrats to CHIVE Maryland and their administrators for putting on an incredible event to raise $30,000. It’s beyond amazing to think how much their donation to Chive Charities is going to help individuals who greatly need this type of assistance. Job well done and keep up the great work! I can’t wait to see what they can accomplish in 2014!
All opinions are 100% my own. I have not been influenced otherwise.

Right on the heels of Chive Charities fundraiser for Melissa, the Maryland Chivers raised over $10,000 for Melissa at an unofficial meetup at The Tiki Bar bringing her collective total well over $450,000.
