In honor of today’s holiday, we decided to pop some popcorn and enjoy a nice movie marathon. I picked up some microwaveable Kettle corn the previous night. Tonight we are creating some dark chocolate drizzled popcorn for dessert! Hopefully it turns out alright enough to make a blog post. I found some tips on Pinterest luckily. I also found some great Valentine’s Day ideas to do with popcorn. I especially like the ideas to create “pink popcorn balls”. Looks like tons of fun and I’m sure everyone will enjoy eating them as much as creating them!
Now what would any holiday post be without a little bit of a history lesson! It has been said that popcorn has been around a long time. Native Americans would place hot stones over a fire and then throw ears of corn on the stones to make them pop. However, I didn’t realize exactly how old popcorn was until I surprisingly learned about ancient popcorn ears that were discovered by archaeologists back in the 1940s in New Mexico. Turned out those ears were actually 5,600 years old! How crazy is that?
