As some of you know, I recently started running again this month. Honestly, it was something I used to love, but never thought I would get back into. After running my first official 5K race in like… ummm, over 10 years, I immediately got bit by the “running bug” again!
It wasn’t soon after I signed up to participate in the Creek Boot Camp 5K to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project! I ran it back on September 21, so yes, I’m late in sharing my results with you. Oops! So far since I started running again, my personal record (PR) is 34:04. At the time I ran the CBC 5K, the time of 37:59 was my PR for that particular trail. The hills and elevation is crazy challenging… but isn’t a challenge a good thing? I’ve since beaten that PR on that loop in the past week, but I’m going to save those results for another post!
I think charity runs might be my new addiction! I get to run, AND for a good cause (and I usually get some awesome running bling, hehe). If you know of any charity runs/races in Maryland, Boston, or Rhode Island, please feel free to let me know! Or if you know of any great virtual races to participate in, feel free to comment. While I do have my preferred charities that I feel particularly strong in supporting, I’m always happy to hear about other great charities out there!
I admit, I am starting to feel the stress in my knees. Prior to running again, I did see my Sports Medicine Doctor in efforts to help strengthen my knees. The exercises and therapies have helped tremendously!
However if any of you readers are runners, I would love to hear your suggestions on how I can reduce or prevent any pain. I have been icing and that usually helps. Thank you!
All opinions are 100% my own.
