2012 #Holiday Gift Guide: Taggies Jingle Bells Book ~ #Review

To get into the holiday spirit, we’ve been reading many Christmas and winter themed books! Taggies™ has released the adorable Jingle Bells Book. For ages birth and up, the soft fleece cover features a super cute polar bear decked out for the holidays.

The book tells a sweet story of the featured polar bear out on a fun adventure. What is really cute is that the text of the story is the lyrics to the Christmas classic song “Jingle Bells”! This is one of my son’s favorites.Along the way the bear will meet a reindeer and penguin!

Each page features a tag, or I should say “taggie”, to engage your child. My son loved taggies when he was younger, but at 20 months he has seem to outgrow it. He preferred to point to the animals. Luckily the younger babies who say the book just loved feeling the silky tags.

powerrangers11It seems throughout the years toy fads come and go. However, one evil-fighting superhero team that has always stuck around is the Power Rangers! This group has been around since 1993 and still going strong with the action, adventure and entertaining children in 2013. The newest season of Power Rangers is Super Samurai, which airs on Nickelodeon and is currently the #1 kids’ action series!

In honor of Super Samurai  the offering of Power Rangers gifts is a plenty!  You can also purchase Power Ranger bike helmets, skateboards, action figures, battle gear, scooters, and more. For the holidays they offer ornaments and stockings. Any Power Ranger fan would love to have a special ornament on their tree or a stocking hung by the fireplace honoring one of their favorite shows for the Christmas time.

I recently received the Power Rangers 10.5” Battlers Plush and ornament. My son at the time was unfamiliar with Power Rangers, but once I showed him what he called the “ninja”, he was super excited! [Read more…]

Santa’s Secret Deal by Joel D. Smith ~ Children’s #Holiday Book #Review

Christmas is coming! Which means my home is in full holiday mode. The tree and lights are up, presents are wrapped, and I’m even baking some holiday goodies every few days. However for my son, this means he gets to pull out all his Christmas books! My little reader just loves books. He loves to just flip through the pages, pointing to pictures while “reading” to me. So I was pretty excited to learn about the family Christmas book, Santa’s Secret Deal!

Santa’s Secret Deal comes from the mind of Maryland’s own Joel D. Smith aka “Joel D.” On screen, he’s an Emmy Award winning news reporter for our local Baltimore’s Fox 45 news channel. He’s always had quite a love for telling stories and spinning tales. Santa’s Secret Deal actually comes from a funny tale he used to tell his younger brother when they were growing up. Now a father of two young children, Joel D. has turned that tale into a entertaining Christmas story that is sure to engage your child (and maybe teach them to pick up their toys!)
