Though I have to admit, after my son celebrates a holiday which is basically to him a candy collection, it can be hard to get him to focus on being gracious and thankful for what he has in life (that isn’t candy!). I started racking my brain to come up with ideas to teach him about thankfulness. One day I was browsing through my latest issue of Sam’s Club Healthy Living Made Simple Magazine via my iPad app. One particular article immediately caught my eye… But I’ll get to that in a minute!

This is especially convenient for me since I live right next to our local Target. Most of the time I’m passing it when I head home from work anyway.

Reality is that domestic violence affects one in four women in her lifetime – that’s more women than breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer combined! It is very often that people think only of physical abuse when they consider domestic violence. This is not the case though. Domestic abuse comes in all forms including financial abuse, which happens in 98% of all cases of domestic violence and is one of the most powerful ways to keep a victim trapped. This is why it is so important today that I chat with you about the  !

Television and film actress and domestic violence activist, Kerry Washington, serves as an ambassador to help bring this program to the nation’s attention. She has designed an adorable limited-edition purple purse. I love that this purse will be distributed to help raise awareness. Additionally, The Allstate Foundation is producing 80,000 purple purse charms and tassels, which will be sent to Purple Purse challenge participants and agents!
Allstate PURPLE-PURSE 1How cute is it?? What a great way to attach one to your favorite purse as a sign of your support. It is very inspiring in that each tassel has a removable card featuring one of five survivor stories.
