While I attended an expense paid event hosted by BGR: The Burger Joint, all opinions and thoughts expressed are 100% my own.You may have noticed on my social media last week I was posting from a media event here in Annapolis at BGR: The Burger Joint. Hopefully you caught the glimpses I share of these amazingly delicious burgers! Now I admit, this was my first time to BGR Annapolis despite living here in town. I’m glad I was finally able to give them a try! As a burger fan, I’m kicking myself for not going sooner.
First let me give a quick shout out to my favorite local iPhone photographer imonet73! At the very last minute, she joined me at the event. My original guest was stuck working late, so luckily she stepped in at the last minute to join in. When went entered this fast-casual burger restaurant, I immediately noticed the bright colors and fun atmosphere. The menu is right there in front of you before you approach the cashier to order. The walls and table tops are decorated with pop art featuring cultural icons and legends.
So let’s chat food! BGR exclusively serves USDA prime, dry aged beef, which is grilled to perfection over an open flame. Did you know they have been named the No. 1 burger restaurant in Washington D.C. year after year by multiple sources? We had a chance to try The Burger patties alone without the bun and add-ons so we could really get a taste of the meat. I ordered my medium. Delicious, with great seasoning for sure! I then as able to try The Burger with fixings served on a brioche bun. I love that BGR Annapolis has a commitment to source local. They actually serve their burgers on brioche buns exclusively from Gold Crust Bakery based in Hyattsville, MD.Beef burgers aren’t the only items you’ll find on the menu though! Their unique menu features sushi grade ahi tuna, lamb, turkey, chicken, made-from-scratch veggie burgers and other high quality specialty burgers. I love that guests can actually build their own BGR burger if they choose, or order from a selection of masterpieces.
One of those masterpieces I had a chance to try was the Greek Burger! The patty was made of ground leg of lamb, and featured Tzatziki, feta, cucumber, red onion, lettuce and tomato. Another masterpiece I tried that was absolutely packed with flavor was the Ahi Tuna burger. The patty was Sushi grade Ahi, grilled with pineapple, teriyaki, and pickled ginger.Sides are available to order with each burger. BGR offers regular fries, sweet potato fries, sweet potato tots, and onion rings. Want to try a leaner and healthier side option? I was loving the grilled asparagus! Lightly dusted with Parmesan cheese, this grilled vegetable side was perfect.Of course what better way to finish off a burger than with a milkshake! The flavors of the hand-spun milkshakes are rotated monthly, but that evening the options were Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Peppermint, and Cookies & Cream. I can’t wait to take my son back to try a good ole fashion burger, fries, and milkshake!
