Summer is winding down, and it won’t be long before my son heads back to school. Quality time together is more important than ever, especially since by the end of the month, our schedules will be crazy once again, with the easy going summer days long gone. Since today is actually National Root Beer Float Day, what better way to celebrate family time together with everybody’s favorite summer treat… Root Beer Floats!
A&W Root Beer has a long history of creating family memories! The unique, creamy taste of it is a simple treat that creates fun, care-free experiences for families and can help make any moment special.
This is exactly why on our most recent family game night, we pulled out A&W Root Beer! Of course it’s the must-have ingredient for those delicious root beer floats, the perfect timeless family night treat!
Creating an A&W Root Beer Float is quite simple! First you take 1-2 scoops of tasty vanilla ice cream and place right in your mug!
Then open up an A&W Root Beer for the next step! I prefer to use one that is ice cold for the floats. Slowly pour the root beer into the mug, filling it to the top!
Add in a fun straw and you’re done! Feel free to add other toppings, such as whip cream, if you prefer.
These floats were the perfect addition to our family night!! I can’t tell if he was smiling all night because he was beating me in our card game, or because he enjoyed sipping the floats!
I will say though, every time I looked over, he was sipping on this float! But I don’t blame him! They are quite delicious. I know I enjoyed drinking mine!

YUM!!! There’s nothing better than a delicious root beet float in my opinion. And it has to be A&W Root Beer. I remember my grandparents making these for me and I still love them to this day.
I had no idea about Root Beer Float Day and even though it is a bit late I am going to run out and get the ice cream and soda as the kids will love this so much! Thank you for the heads up! Looks like your son loved todays celebration too!
