Over the weekend Marvel Studios launched a new TV spot for its upcoming film, AVENGER: INFINITY WAR, and it is PACKED with new film footage! We are less than a month away from the film’s release and anticipation to witness the Avengers and the Guardians face off against Thanos and his Black Order, is quickly building! The new TV spot runs one minute long and teases us with not only new scenes, but interesting dialogue as well.
Go ahead and take a watch before we chat more about the video…
If you noticed, this spot features T’Challa, the Black Panther, with his Wakandan warriors, chanting before taking charge towards an enemy (hence the name “Chant”). They are actually chanting “yibambe” which despite the fact that Wakanda is a fictional nation, “yibambe” is an actual term! It derives from a Buntu language, meaning to “hold off.”
And speaking of BLACK PANTHER, how funny is Okoye’s “Starbucks” line? I love that Marvel always includes a little humor, even if the film has a darker or more morbid theme than other Marvel movies.
Now there was discussion online that Thanos is shown with four Infinity Stones when he shows up to Wakanda. I didn’t notice this when I saw the spot run on my TV or later when I watched it on YouTube. However, if you look at the Twitter version of the video, a quick glimpse of the Gauntlet shows it has the Space Stone, Power Stone, Reality Stone, and what I’m guessing is the Mind Stone. It could be the Soul Stone. However we have yet to see that Stone appear in the MCU.
Go ahead and watch the video on Twitter and let me know what you think!
