Woo hoo! One of my favorite movies I saw this summer was definitely Marvel’s ANT-MAN! I was thrilled to learn today that Paul Rudd will once again return to the big screen in an Ant-Man sequel… only this time he’ll have someone with him! ANT-MAN AND THE WASP will hit theaters as a part of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on July 6, 2018. Did you know that this is actually the first time that a Marvel title features a female hero’s name? Awesome! Evangeline Lilly will return as Hope Van Dyne, the original Ant-Man’s daughter, who is now following in her mother’s footsteps and donning her own super hero suit!
In other Marvel news, this means that there will be some shifting around for other Phase Three films. Writer Joe Robert Cole is now being tapped for BLACK PANTHER, and will be bumped up to February 16, 2018. CAPTAIN MARVEL, which is the studio’s first solo female film, will be pushed back to March 8, 2019. Marvel has also added three untitled movies to 2020. The release dates are May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and Nov. 6, 2020. My guess is that these untitled films will be the beginning of Phase Four, following AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR – PART II, which comes out 2019. Maybe?
