Like most moms out there, it absolutely breaks my heart when my son catches an illness. The poor guy is cranky and it is difficult to get him comfortable for a long night of rest. Though I know it is a necessity, I cringe at the thought of having to take his temperature during the night and risk waking him from his slumber. Since his birth, I’ve always used a rectal thermometer on him. Not exactly the easiest way to take a temperature without stirring the baby. Luckily Kidz-Med has resolved this issue!
Kidz-Med generously sent me their VeraTemp Non-Contact Thermometer to test and review! The thermometer provides an easy and accurate way to take a temperature that is also trauma-free! Parent tested and FDA approved, the VeraTemp non-contact technology will not startle or wake your child when taking their temperature. Instant readings are available in either Celsius or Fahrenheit.
VeraTemp is very user-friendly. The thermometer uses a safe infrared technology to measure the body heat given off by your little one”s forehead. Simply place the scanning part of the device within 2-3 inches of their forehead, and then press the scan button. Instantly their temperature is displayed on the screen. The screen is backlit by an LDC light which definitely comes in handy when you are taking the temperature in the dark. Aside from the non-contact aspect, one of my favorite features is that the screen changes color based on the temperature. The screen will display green if the temperature is between 97.3°F and 99.1°F, orange if between 99.3°F and 100.2°F, or red if the temperature is greater than 100.4°F. That way you’ll know the temperature’s range and if it has reached dangerous levels before you even look at the screen for the number.I love that I can also use the thermometer to take other temperatures around the house! I use to it to test his bathwater, his bottle, and room temperature just to name a few! There are settings in the thermometer to take body, surface, or room temperature. Just hit the “mode” button. Furthermore, the thermometer will store the last 32 readings in it’s memory. It is easy to go back and view them by hitting the “memory” button.
While my son was never sick during the test period of this product, I can definitely see how it will come in handy in years to come!
Buy It:You can purchase the Kidz-Med VeraTemp Non-Contact Thermometer at local retailers such as Target, Walmart, CVS, and Rite Aid just to name a few.
